Modern Accommodations in a remote setting

5 of 5
As a friend of the owner, I have occasionally stayed at the Lodge at Ambush Hill Ranch. If you are looking for a place to get away from the rushed pace of modern life, then this is the place. If you like the peace and quiet and solitude of nature then this is the place. The lodge itself is very modern and if you have the need to connect to the outside world, there is internet service along with Direct TV. However, why bother when there are magnificent views, starry nights, the sounds of coyotes in the distance, wild game in abundance, and more to occupy your time. Walk along Bull Head Creek and enjoy the sounds of nature. Climb to the top of the bluffs and enjoy a view that goes on forever. Enjoy a BBQ on the gas grill or sit around an open fire in the fire pit. Take pictures of deer, turkey and various other wild life as they come to the feeders late in the evening. Yes, there is all of this and more at Ambush Hill Ranch. I caution you though. If you want large city amenities and close by fancy restaurants, you are out of luck. However, if you like adventure and want to truly get away, there is no better place than the "Lodge" at Ambush Hill Ranch Lee Sweeten

Nice Long Weekend at the Ranch!

5 of 5
My entire family stayed at the house this past weekend and it was very nice as expected. The wildflowers were beautiful and we had a great time. The pistol range is a nice addition. Tim checked in on us and made sure all was good. This was a our second time coming to Bar None Ranch and it was a nice getaway!

Perfect Retreat-Family Center and Lodge & House

5 of 5
This is a lodge reconstructed from a barn in Wisconsin, but with lots of barn support timbers shaped with axes and paneling inside from Cedar Elm, the other large Central Texas trees besides the live oaks. The porch is so inviting its hard to go inside, but inside one is overwhelmed by the beauty and mix of old Wisconsin barn and newest materials. Downstairs has a den with large screen TV, lots of comfortable seating, and fully equipped kitchen at one corner of the big room-den. Sleeping quarters are in two bedrooms at each end of the large room, and above each end and bedrooms are lofts. Bedrooms at each end are separated by full baths, and each loft is reached via a ladder, so a great adventure for older kids. The whole Lodge is quite new and well kept and clean. Adjacent to the Lodge is a house which would be like a middle-class home anywhere else, but with a bunkhouse added and garage converted to playroom. In back of the house is a covered patio, so for a large group staying in the house and Lodge, it may be a toss-up which gathering place for a group to be. Grass? Check. Deer, birds (including owls at night and hawks during the day)? Check. Dave, the owner, even has canoes and kayaks for water recreation and fishing in Lake Buchanan, and because the Lake is down due to drought, he will take you to the boats. Customer service? Check. Quiet, in the country? Check. Recommend to 2 or more families, with or without kids, or as a group or retreat center? Check. Unique? Triple check.
