Can't Wait to Go Back!

5 of 5
My group of girlfriends has been getting together annually since the 70's and we've stayed a lot of great places; this home is in the top two and we can't wait to go back. The house is as beautiful as it looks in the photos and everywhere you turn, there's another bedroom and bathroom. The home was very clean, organized, and had a layout that easily allowed all 10 of us to be together, while also having smaller seating arrangements for satellite conversations. The kitchen had plenty of cookware, dishes, wine glasses, and utensils. We made great use of the large refrigerator, two ovens (including convection) and microwave, and the six burner stove. The layout made it very easy for a lot of us to be working on meals in the kitchen at the same time. And there's great art everywhere. I don't even know that I got to see all of it. The eating bar was a huge hit; lots of clever pieces in this home. Additionally, the owners were extremely gracious with their time, talking to us before and during our stay to answer questions about events, activities, etc. and making sure we were having a good weekend and finding everything we needed in the house. It was a cold, rainy, winter weekend -- and it was still so beautiful. Looking out the back wall of windows over a lazy breakfast and seeing dozens (hundreds?) of ducks swoop in over the water was incredible. I don't think it's possible to be in this house and not be relaxed; it just has that earthy and elegant feel that tells you it's time to chill and talk and toast and laugh -- one of those weekends where you never look to see what time it is. Because you do NOT care.

Impressive!!!

5 of 5
It was a great trip for 6 families (13 adults and 10 kids). Plenty of beds to sleep 30+ as long as they are willing to share a bed. Main house has 2 full bedrooms with attached full bathrooms and 1 bedroom/loft combo with a teeny tiny attached full bathroom. The bedroom loft/combo has 3 queen size beds on the 1st floor and 4 queen sized beds in loft area. For the number of folks who can sleep in this area, the bathroom is a 6'x5' area and very cramped. The outhouse which also has the game room (pool, air hockey indoors and table tennis outdoors) has 1 bedroom with attached full bathroom and 1 bedroom with full bathroom just outside the bedroom door. There is plenty of space to spread out on the property and lots of seating spaces. By the day, the area next to the grill/pool is the best and in the evening the area by the fire pit is the best. The property comes with space heaters, bose speakers with a onkyo receiver to plug in your ipod/phone to for your own music. The receiver has a volume limiter on it to prevent extremely loud music (which is completely acceptable in my books). The maximum music volume is perfect in my opinion - not too loud or too low. Wifi on the property is sketchy at best. The best location for wifi is in the outhouse where the wifi modem is. I really hope the owners provide some repeaters to enhance wifi coverage. This will help with making the receiver for the sound system wifi accessible too. That way no more getting up to change a song on your ipod that is connected to the receiver. Or just provide a really really long ipod/phono cable (+30 feet) to connect your ipod/phone to the receiver and be able to operate the music system from where you are seated. Lorenzo is really helpful and does a great job keeping everything working and accessible. He is constantly leaf blowing or mowing so you have to tell him to stop so that its quire. Thanks to him the property is kept clean every day. When we arrived, we had the stainless grill shown in the pictures above but the very next morning, the maintenance crew showed up and installed a brand new propane grill with 6-7 burners. So we got lucky. The BBQ charcoal grill is pretty big with a separate smoker box and damper but isn't very efficient with heat - not bad though just give yourself some extra time to cook that's it. We had to finish off 3 racks of ribs on the grill after BBQ;ing them for over 6-7 hours on low heat Give yourself 3 nights to enjoy!!!

Just what we were looking for!

5 of 5
This property was just what our family was looking for. We needed to be in the Georgetown area for two months. The thought of staying at a motel or renting an apartment just did not feel right. We felt welcome from even before day one. What a great experience. Our family includes two children and two dogs. Indian Bluffs was the perfect place for us. The wifi enabled us to continue school seamlessly. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy for me to prepare meals. The beds were enormously comfortable (so much that now that I am at home, I am missing them!) That our doggie family was welcome and had plenty of room to exercise was so important. We enjoyed our hikes and runs and the quiet seclusion of being at the end of the road. We felt safe and secure in the location. The Scurlocks were wonderful. They were helpful, informative, generous and attentive. Anytime we needed something (such as more firewood for the chilly days and nights) they were quick and pleasant to help. Our stay here was absolutely perfect. The home was clean and everything in the house worked. The kitchen was well stocked and I had the opportunity to cook in the oven, on the stove, in the microwave and on the bbq grill. We had plenty of hot water for a family of four. It was so helpful that there was a clothes washer and dryer right there. We could not have asked for a better place to stay for the length of time we spent in Georgetown. I would absolutely recommend staying with the Scurlocks to anyone who is looking for a peaceful, homey home away from home. Thank you so much! If we ever have need for this situation again, I will be making reservations happily!!
