Good Visit - A few things to review

4 of 5
We had a good visit, love the two level of decks, and the views. ALso love the space! I was disappointed with a few items. We had a crawlign baby, and while the floors were swept, the floors were dirty. After an hour, she was black on her legs, same if you wore socks. This was the first day, so the expectation is a clean floor. Again - they look clean, but are not Also After reading about the pots and pans on a prior review, and the response being they would be replaced - I did not bring my own. The frying pans are in bad shape! Very hard to cook with. Overall we had a good time, we'd consider coming back .Very convenient to the beach, nice pool area, and spacious home. Love the decks and the view.

Beautiful home, great location

5 of 5
Our group consisted of two adults, an 8-yr-old and two teenage boys. We have been to Galveston several times in the past few years. We chose this home for our Galveston Island family vacation after reviewing literally dozens of other options. We were not disappointed! The location is very close to all of the attractions on Seawall Blvd, yet far enough away to relax, enjoy the quiet away from the crowds, and take in the gulf view on one of the two large decks. We could either drive or walk to the beach, which is very convenient. I enjoyed the neighborhood, which seemed very family oriented. The master bathroom is fabulous, as is the jacuzzi tub. It was nice to take a long bath after a day of fun in the sun. And there are more than enough extra towels on hand, which I thought was a big plus. The size of the house is perfect, not too big, not too small, and it had everything we needed to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Gaard was just a phone call or email away if we needed anything at all. Thank you, Gaard, for your wonderful accommodations!

Great Vacation House

5 of 5
The house was very welcoming from the moment we stepped inside. The house is well maintained, everything worked! and it is obviously well cared for. The beds were comfortable, the rooms spacious and cool even in the heat of the day. The owners had the house well stocked with "essentials" including coffee, some staples and various sundries. Although we did not do major cooking there it was definitely an option as there were several pots/pans & utensils available. Unfortunately, the outdoor grill had not been cleaned so we did not use it. But if we had wanted to there was a picnic table right there. We were also pleased to see some beach supplies available for us to use, including chairs, an umbrella (it was too windy!!) and children's toys. The owners have a binder on the desk full of Galveston pamphlets for various activities as well as many of the restaurants. There were even some coupon cards for a few different places. There are a few books in the house, many about Galveston and some novels. There is a TV and DVD player, but no movies, although with the Satellite dish you may not need/want movies. The neighborhood was quite, even with Sonnies restaurant across the street. We did have lunch there on afternoon - went in about 1:50pm and even though they closed at 2pm, they served us with a smile! (Good basic food) There is a playground across the front street. The only disappointment was the listing says the house is 6 block from the beach which it really is not and walking to the beach wouldn't be advisable as there aren't any sidewalks. But the house equally close to the beach and the strand. We explored both! I enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the mornings, it was quiet and there was a great breeze. Overall, we had a great relaxing visit and would recommend this house as pretty central for exploring Galveston.
