Perfection

5 of 5
In the words of Stefon from SNL, "This place has EVERYTHING." It's true! This is my first experience with a HomeAway vacation property and I can honestly say that it may be time to turn in my Ritz Rewards card. Over Columbus Day weekend, me and three girlfriends met up for a girls weekend getaway here on Rock Port Beach. As one of the first two girls to arrive, I felt like a cast member of MTV's Real World, anxiously running from floor to floor to stake my claim of the first of the four (huge) bedrooms. After dropping my bags and kicking off my heels, I set out to explore the beautiful beach house we would be taking over for the weekend. I felt like one of those people you see on HGTV, because every time I turned a corner I would hear myself saying, "Wow" "No way!" "Did you see this room?!" "This place is AWESOME!" Perfection. Of our holiday weekend beach vacation, my favorite moments were at "our beach house." From our first night toasting the warm gulf breeze with a chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, swaying in the hammocks while watching the never resting thrill seeking girls of the group paddle boarding off the waterfront dock. It was a weekend of sleeping in late, cozily nestled in our warm comfy beds, feeding the ducks from our patio over morning coffee, bicycling to the Grog Bar to enjoy a pre-dinner sunset. -You get the picture. One observation I must mention for vacationers with children or young adults. I was blown away with everything the beach house has to offer for the young and "wired in." Wi-Fi, Blu Ray, Cable, DVD, Stereo, Nintendo Wi, EVERYTHING. There are bicycles for every age of the family. Like to Kayak, there are Kayaks. Paddle Boards, check. Fishing? Yep. Like to cook? This place is stocked with everything you need in addition to two outdoor cooking areas, a fish fry and gas grill. It was a weekend to remember and we're eagerly planning our next getaway back to our "beach house." Thank you so much for a great vacation. See you in 2015! - "The Girls" Jillian Dallas, TX

Bubba's Birthday Beach Bash

5 of 5
We discovered this property almost last minute when a previous one we wanted was booked. The owner let us know she had another key allegro property available. This property was comfortable, spacious and family friendly. It was the perfect home to celebrate Bubba's 4 year old birthday with all the family. There was plenty of room to move around, plenty of patio space to hang out and plenty of comfortable beds to sleep in. The property owners were very helpful in recommending nearby restaurants, family attractions and fishing guides. We will definitely be calling Ms. Kappameyer to reserve the home when we return again to Rockport and I will be recommending this property to family and friends.

Another Perfect Family Getaway!

5 of 5
This house is perfect for a relaxing family getaway. We were there for 6 nights in July. This is our second family vacation here in the last few years and since the last time, our family has grown. However, we definitely did not outgrow this house. This time around we had 14 people (10 adults and 4 kids) and it never felt crowded. It has four private bedrooms, each with a full bath, which gives everyone the privacy they need (when needed). There is also a loft style bedroom with two bunk beds and trundles that is perfect for kids. The house has endless natural light wherever you go giving it a great coastal feel. The open areas are very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you’ll need to prepare whatever meals you want. We utilized it thoroughly during our stay and there never was a time we didn’t have what we needed. The standalone ice machine was a very nice touch. No matter how hard we tried, we never ran out of ice. The views are amazing from the front and back. From the front, you look straight out into the bay with no obstructions. The house has a private pier with benches at the end we utilized numerous times to watch the sunset. There is also an outdoor sitting area right outside the living room which was perfect for enjoying morning coffee. It is well shaded which is key during hot Texas summers. Because there are no obstructions between the bay and the house, there is a constant ocean breeze. I bring this up because that is not the case in the interior streets. We took numerous walks with the kids and that breeze is nonexistent once you trail off the private drive into the interior streets. The back deck is great for fishing and as others have noted, you don’t have to try hard to get a bite which is great for all. You can even catch crab if you dare. There is an underwater deck light that you can use to watch fish at night. We made many trips to the public Rockport beach which was very nice. If you are like me, you probably have reservations of calling any Texas beach “nice”. This is the only exception I’ve encountered. It is well maintained and cleaned daily. There was no seaweed or trash to speak of. The ocean bottom is very soft, stays shallow for a long way, and the waves are very calm which makes it a perfect beach for children. We had 14 to 18 month olds and a four year old and they all had a great time. Fun for all ages! We can’t wait to come back!
