My dog and I stayed here for 3 1/2 months and we loved it here at the B side. The apartment is a very large studio that could easily accommodate two people. Toni has an eye for interior design, and has mixed in a couple of antiques with more standard (but well chosen) Ikea fare. The kitchen has all the appliances you might need (including a dishwasher) and plenty of counter space. Although it can get dark, there are windows on three sides, and double doors lead to the backyard. There is a large deck out back and a beautiful fully fenced in yard with nice plantings, including trumpet vine trellises over the deck. Toni maintained the place well; she even replaced the mattress in the middle of my stay. The place does have its quirks: some flooring unevenness, a shaky kitchen sink, and strangely a rock walled shower in addition to the regular shower. Character--it's an old house. We were extremely happy here, and didn't want to leave. Toni was super nice and let my dog out while I was away, and she's a great fun person who knows a lot about Austin.
The location, in Hyde Park, is also terrific--seven blocks away from great restaurants, an organic grocery store, cheese shop and bakery. While here I was working at UT and the #7 bus, which stops two blocks away, takes you right there. The same bus takes you to downtown/6th street; it would be fine here to get around without a car. We had a fantastic time and would recommend Toni's place to any single or couple visiting Austin.
