Great weekend getaway from the stresses of the city

4 of 5
My girlfriend, Lexie, and I stayed here for a weekend before the madness of the holiday season began. We both work in sales/customer service/hospitality, and wanted to take a weekend and get lost in Hill Country so we could spend some down time alone and just relax. We spent both nights at the cabin out on the lawn by the fire, and some up on the porch in the lovely rocking chairs when it rained. We spent the day wondering around Sisterdale and the surrounding areas. We went to the Sisterdale Winery and did a tour, then obviously we did a tasting and ended up buying several bottles. They recommended that we check Out the candle shop, so next we stopped in the Marlowe Candle Company and purchased a few candles as gifts and some wax melts for our wax warmer. It felt as of each place we went to would lead us to the next destination of our journey, because she recommended to is that we go down the road and check out Hill Country Pottery. when we drove up the long gravel driveway up this big hill to this petite little Gallery where they kept all of their merchandise displayed with a beautiful array of colors and glazes. We purchased a new wax heater for our new scented wax. The gentleman "Brian" the owner was very accommodating and polite. We then left and decided to stop at the little saloon across from the dance hall. We had a few beers and a few glasses of wine and then headed back to the cabin. When we got back Amanda's son had just chopped is some fresh fire wood since the rain had soaked our woodpile pretty good. We got a fore going and then we grilled some hamburgers on the charcoal grill while Lexie sat in her rocking chair enjoying the tranquility. Also, there are tons of deer that walk up and graze just outside the front of the cabin. You can see them every day and there are at least 6 of them. The family pets are also a real treat. Sadie, is a giant mastiff mix and she is sweet and calm. Mary Kay is an ADORABLE shnauzer with no teeth so her poor tongue just hangs out the side of her face. She is too cute! There are also a few kittens that run around but they all stay away unless you call for them. It was a great weekend and we look forward to doing it again!

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved staying here! We were so lucky to have found this place. It was so cute and so clean. We felt right at home, immediately. We wished there was a place exactly like this where we live because would would most definitely live in it. It was so close to downtown and to barton springs pool, which was also amazing. And we enjoyed having a convenience store right next door. I hope to go to Austin, Texas again and stay at this place. Excellent! Thank you!

Our group traveled from different parts of the U.S. for the UT and WVU game. We were in Austin 2 years ago for the same reason. The home we rented at that time was beautiful but already rented for this years game. What a blessing that was for us! The "Carrington House" was the ultimate gathering place! It's beautiful, clean, comfortable, awesome views, walking distance to restaurants, bars, and UT's campus (a must see). In a nutshell, it couldn't have been better! But it was, Valerie! Valerie made us feel so welcome and she went above and beyond to accomplish this. Our booking, arrival and check-out was seamless all this made possible by Valerie. We lost the game, UT's fans are the best "Go Longhorns" you deserved the win. We will be back to hopefully win in 2 years and will definitely try to book this home again. Easy decision, it's a remarkable home and is managed by a remarkable woman! Thank-you Austin and thank-you Valerie these Mountaineers will be back!
