Utterly peaceful & gorgeous hide-away

5 of 5
When I reserved this quaint cabin, I knew I was in for a relaxing time. What I wasn't expecting the utterly overwhelming beauty, peace, and serenity provided by Chris' cabin. Chris has created a haven of nature that really provides a space where you can feel as though you truly got away from the hustle and bustle. The cabin sits right on a dam and the continuous flow of water is perfect to sit and listing to. Our first night there was a powerful thunderstorm that was gorgeous to experience and when we woke the next morning, the dam was roaring with water! The sounds of everything! The sounds of the chickens running wild, the sounds of the hummingbirds zipping around. The cabin was immensely clean and comfortable and a really fancy grill was provided that allowed us to cook everything from pork to pasta to eggs for breakfast. The metal art scattered throughout the property is incredibly unique (I think they actually make it on location!). Chris also let us use a paddle boat and some floats when swimming. The one thing that may bother some people was the composting toilet in the cabin. You can't put paper in there so it collects in a waste bin next to the toilet. I didn't mind at all but I can see others being a bit uncomfortable. I must say, I personally thought it was wonderful how environmentally conscious they were in installing that toilet. Incredibly kind folks, absolutely gorgeous space. Highly recommended!

Perfect Spring Break (Again)

4 of 5
We just keep coming back to a good thing! This year for Spring break and my wifes Birthday we celebrated in the Texas hill country to a returned visit to this charming vacation home. Yes it is very rustic and the steps down to the river are an accident waiting to happen, it was GREAT. we made huge family meals together, swam, played on the rope swings, painted, went on nature walks, played games and just had a blast! we loved the fact that we were "out of the service area" and removed from the computers, phones and Internet. it created so much more time together as a family. My mother who is 80 loved the ol Texas charm of the environment, the kids again were fascinated with all that nature offers. Spended evening with cocktails on the patio, and early morning coffee with the deer. Thank you Cathy for sharing this with us. See you next year! and yes...it was a Birthday to remember for sure!

Excellent

5 of 5
We stayed here for spring break with our 5 young children. The place is outfitted perfectly for a family, or large group. Tons of space, nice beds, great amenities. We used it sort of like a "base-camp" and did day trips throughout the area, it worked perfectly. As others have said, Mark, the host, is amazing. Our kids absolutely loved him. He was kind, thorough and super helpful. We'd go back in a heart-beat!
