Great weekend getaway from the stresses of the city

4 of 5
My girlfriend, Lexie, and I stayed here for a weekend before the madness of the holiday season began. We both work in sales/customer service/hospitality, and wanted to take a weekend and get lost in Hill Country so we could spend some down time alone and just relax. We spent both nights at the cabin out on the lawn by the fire, and some up on the porch in the lovely rocking chairs when it rained. We spent the day wondering around Sisterdale and the surrounding areas. We went to the Sisterdale Winery and did a tour, then obviously we did a tasting and ended up buying several bottles. They recommended that we check Out the candle shop, so next we stopped in the Marlowe Candle Company and purchased a few candles as gifts and some wax melts for our wax warmer. It felt as of each place we went to would lead us to the next destination of our journey, because she recommended to is that we go down the road and check out Hill Country Pottery. when we drove up the long gravel driveway up this big hill to this petite little Gallery where they kept all of their merchandise displayed with a beautiful array of colors and glazes. We purchased a new wax heater for our new scented wax. The gentleman "Brian" the owner was very accommodating and polite. We then left and decided to stop at the little saloon across from the dance hall. We had a few beers and a few glasses of wine and then headed back to the cabin. When we got back Amanda's son had just chopped is some fresh fire wood since the rain had soaked our woodpile pretty good. We got a fore going and then we grilled some hamburgers on the charcoal grill while Lexie sat in her rocking chair enjoying the tranquility. Also, there are tons of deer that walk up and graze just outside the front of the cabin. You can see them every day and there are at least 6 of them. The family pets are also a real treat. Sadie, is a giant mastiff mix and she is sweet and calm. Mary Kay is an ADORABLE shnauzer with no teeth so her poor tongue just hangs out the side of her face. She is too cute! There are also a few kittens that run around but they all stay away unless you call for them. It was a great weekend and we look forward to doing it again!

Even better than home

5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin in Staples, Tx. The host was extremely helpful and hospitable. Immediate response to questions. The house was lovely. Have stayed in one of these modular type homes before and knew what to expect but Carol went above and beyond. She really pays attention to the little things that matter. Fridge was stocked w/water when we got there, coffee and all types of supplies (tea & hot chocolate). Overabundance of any and all supplies needed (towels, paper towels, tp, etc). Nice silver and glass ware. Very quiet area but it suited our needs as it was close to our family who we were visiting. Wish the weather had cooperated so we we could have enjoyed sitting on the porch instead of inside with the heat on. The electric fireplace was a nice, cozy touch, since we had to have the heat on anyway. A great stay and would love to stay again. Thank you Carol!!!

Gorgeous piece of property with lots to do!

5 of 5
Wonderful find in the middle of Sequin but close to lots to do in nearby New Braunfels, Seguin or Gruene. My boys loved staying in a tree house, hot tubing it and somemores on the open pit. Kayaking right there and an awesome rope swing that was fun for all. Perfect place for large groups friends/family. Really well done, I found it a bit pricey per night but it is a gorgeous find!
