Experienced travelers throughout the southwest and northwest.

We've returned home after our two months of travels and I'm reflecting on places we've enjoyed and especially those we'd like to revisit. It was a pleasure to find the Guadalupe River Lodge on a quiet, natural part of a major Texas River that was not crowded. Canoeing, paddle boating, fishing and being in lovely quiet was refreshing. We've traveled enough to want to avoid the sterile hotel atmosphere and found this lodge more like being at home but with our own river to experience in a number of ways. The beds, furniture were comfortable, and the rooms clean, cozy with two T.V.'s - one for a large number of people. A kitchen had everything for cooking and a really great Mexican Restaurant nearby. Also, the old town of Gruene about 15 miles away with lots of interesting art, food, misc."country" shops and the old, original dance hall that was in the movie Michael (John Travolta). Not "touristy". Great river float trips here over a faster flowing part of the river. A water slide park is nearby to Gruene especially for kids. Lots of people staying in New Braunfels so we much preferred the Guadalupe River Lodge.
