Recent Lake LBJ Reviews

Relax, they already thought of that too . . .

5 of 5
This was our first time on LBJ, timing our trip with the bluebonnet season. Stayed 3 nights with children both young and old and had a good time. Rusty and Wendy really aim to please, and it shows in everything from how the place is kept up to the thoughtful add-ons that make children happy. A cold front blew through towards the end of our stay which hampered our lake activities but the house and yard are so cozy that we still had a good time. What really makes this place stand out is the option to rent the boat and jet skis, You save loads of money and time over renting from another source. Only two things I would have changed: preferred a shorter distance from the open water, and a place with no pets allowed inside. We're old fashioned in that respect and consider dogs to be outside critters. However, there was no off smell.

Family Reunion Weekend

5 of 5
Really great location and beautiful property. The quiet cove is nice to come home to after a long day on the lake. Everything about the property is top notch and felt more like a home than many rentals.

Fun, relaxing place for groups

4 of 5
Overall the place exceeded our expectations in many ways, with only a few minor things that could use attention. We had three couples and two young boys, and had plenty of space. The layout was perfect and created a great atmosphere. The place was clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. There were plenty of pots, pans, spices, utensils, as we cooked a variety of meals. Fishing off the dock was a lot of fun. We caught a mixture of bass, catfish, croppy and perch. Each night we would assemble to watch the sun set, because of the perfect view. The areas for improvement should not deter you from going, but helpful to know. We brought coffee for the regular brewer, but it was missing the component to hold the filter. Thankfully, they also had a Keurig brewer and provided a few starting K-cup coffee pods. The master bedroom doesn't have drawers to place your clothes (though there are small drawers in the bathroom), which meant that you're living out of a suitcase. The wifi was slow, but that only created a problem for the people working on our vacation (everyone else was happily "unplugged" for the trip). The house has a great "home" feel to it as there are photos of the owner family & friends all over the place, and their gear/food/etc. is placed throughout. That made it feel special and cozy. However, there are lengthy instructions on what you can/can't use, and it became confusing and we were constantly asking one another, "can we use this towel, pan", etc? it might be better if shelves are simply labeled. A gas grill is available, but it is rusty and we wouldn't use it. That means using a charcoal grill, which is doable, but because of that we didn't grill as much as we had hoped. Lastly, the fire pit instructions indicated that you're only allowed to use fire logs (not wood), which meant we couldn't do s'mores with the kids, since fire logs burn too many chemicals to be used for cooking. The entertainment room was great. Plenty of board games, a pool table, and the kids loved it. We were able to easily hook up our computer to the large TV and watch slide shows and home movies. Overall, I would definitely consider renting this space again. It's great for groups and families. It's unbelievably relaxing, and you will feel comfortable and at home.
