      Perfect for our getaway!

      4 of 5
The house was great! TONS of activities. Sand volleyball with balls provided, washer pit. There was a horseshoe pit but we couldn't find the horseshoes. Fire pit and dock were awesome. There were even fishing poles if you forget yours. Kitchen was completely stocked with silverware, plates, cups. I was glad we brought our own dishpacks for the dishwasher so we didn't have to wash by hand. There were plenty of towels, although a few guests in the new houses said theirs smelled soured, like they were put away still slightly damp or something, but they were clean. I did wish that housekeeping would have set out towels on the beds so we'd know which ones were freshly laundered. It was so relaxing, and the owner was quick to respond to concerns. We had a great time in the paddleboat and kayak. Oh, and we enjoyed the hot tub -- it was nice and new -- not the scary old kind. The outdoor grilling area was so cool, too! We put it on a music station and had a blast! Our favorite activity was by far the ping pong table, although my husband was caught out on the trampoline twice! We had no kids with us, but this would be tons of fun with or without kiddos!! Already planning a trip back in the fall!

      Enjoyed Our Stay

      4 of 5
This is an older home that has been maintained and updated. We are a family traveling with 5 adults, one teen and two small dogs. Every person or couple had their own room, although the sunroom with the twin bed is off the master. Everyone reports that their beds were extremely comfortable. The living room/dining room was also comfortable. Very comfy sofa and reclining chairs squeezed in to provide lots of seating. We enjoyed a couple of evenings watching TV and playing cards at the enormous dining table. The kitchen was stocked with pans, skillets, etc., although the age of some of the refrigerator and pantry items were questionable. They should probably be inspected and cleaned out a bit. I had brought everything I needed, though, so not a problem for us. The master bedroom had a large walk-in closet stocked with various sizes of dog kennels, so easily accommodated the pooches, who had a safe place to stay when we went into town. The neighborhood is a mix of older single family houses, new houses and mobile homes in various states of repair. We have found this to be typical of most older lake subdivisions. Be prepared when you go outside or for a walk. About every house has at least 1 large dog, so you will be barked and yowled at most of your time outdoors. The dogs loved it. Me-- not so much. The bathrooms were clean and stocked with soap and fresh towels. Beware of the shower curtain in the bath off the hall, the rod is very loose. We didn't use the hot-tub. The house is a short drive to Granbury Square where we enjoyed a performance at the Opera House (beautiful venue), dinner at Linda's Kitchen (very good burgers), lunch at the Filling Station (so-so), dinner at Babe's (mixed reviews, but the left over fried chicken was wonderful) and shopping. Great fudge from this little shop with a ton of colorful displays-- forgot the name. We also visited Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, which is kind of pricey for what we saw. Thousands of exotic deer and some cheetahs, ostrich, giraffe and emu. You have to book a special advance reservation to see their more exotic or endangered animals, which we did not have. Dinosaur Valley State Park was also on our list. I would recommend not going there during Spring Break-- very crowded. The water was so cloudy from all the waders it was difficult to see the footprints. Bottom line, I would rent this home again if we were ever to travel back to the Granbury area.
