Beautiful home for a family get together

5 of 5
We spent a lovely week with family in this home. It was just the right number of bedrooms for us, our kids, 2 grandkids and my mother-in-law. The elevator was a huge help for my mother-in-law. There is plenty of space to cook, eat together, and gather on the sofas and chairs to talk. The deck was a huge hit. The view is perfect. The decor inside and out is high end and really pretty. If a problem arises, Tom, the owner, is right on top of things. The previous renters must have left food out while they were there, as even after housekeeping made the place spotless, there were ants in the kitchen. Tom had a handyman out in a few hours of my calling him. He sprayed the perimeter of the house which greatly improved things. As with any coastal home - you have to keep food sealed up and clean up the counters etc. each night. High speed internet worked perfectly even with several people online at once. The beds were all very comfy. Beachtown as a neighborhood is very well located. The Porch Cafe restaurant is a 2 minute walk and the food was delicious with a good variety of choices. The beach is nice in that driving is not allowed (except by city or parks staff). Only issue was the seaweed - which comes onshore once a year. It was late arriving this year due to repeated cold fronts blowing the sargasso seaweed out to sea repeatedly. The crews periodically cleared the seaweed from the water's edge to the dune area (where it helps with erosion control). But we also bought a rake (which we left in the garage) to clear a pathway to the water in between the heavy equipment clean ups. In terms of sound inside the house, the 2 master bedrooms on the third floor could hear almost everything going on downstairs due to some louvered doors on little balconies overlooking the 2nd floor. Tom has a plan to add an extra door for each room that will block the sound. The other bedrooms had no problem with noise. So this upgrade will truly make this home perfect. We look forward to visiting again!

Perfect Family Getaway

5 of 5
My husband and I rented this house for a one week family getaway in May 2014 for us, our two boys (ages 2 and 4), my mother, my aunt and my 90 year old grandmother. The location of the house was perfect - on a quiet cul-de-sac one block from the beach. It was close enough to the beach that we got the salty breeze and view, but far enough that I wasn't stressing about the safety of my 2 year old who can't yet swim. The house definitely exceeded our expectations and was full of touches that I didn't expect in a rental - like a garage fully stocked with beach toys, towels, a wagon, chairs, etc. and a closet full of games and toys which our kids absolutely loved (especially the Legos!). The owners have put meticulous thought into making sure all of your needs are met, so literally all you have to do is show up with your swimsuit and clothes, make a quick run to the grocery store, and enjoy! The elevator and golf cart were perfect for getting my grandmother in and out of the house and down to the beach. We will be renting this gem of a house again!
