I am writing my review while my wonderful stay is still fresh in my mind. This is one of the best places I have ever stayed at, and I have stayed in a variety of places. I want to thank Roy and his wife for my wonderful stay. I can tell they pay special attention to very small details, as they had the place perfectly set up for pretty much any circumstance that may arise. This is what makes the difference between a good stay, and a "great stay" you will always remember.
First off, the location. This was the prime reason I chose this place. It is literally one block away from the Main Street where all the shops are. You just walk out the back door, turn left, and walk one block to Main Street. You will be right in the middle of all the action. Also, the RockBox theater (which I highly recommend) is literally a four minute walk away. You simply walk out the front door, turn left on E. Schubert St, walk one block and turn right on Llano street, walk one more block and you will be right across from the the RockBox theater. There is a Wal-Mart and HEB a few minutes away, and best of all the Silver Creek restaurant is a few minutes walk away on Main Street. It is nice to just walk there and listen to live nightly music, have a drink, and walk right back to your house.
Although it was close to everything it was very very quiet. It is just far enough away from the action to be serene and void of noise. The owners have the yard set up so beautiful birds come around, I could sit in that little yard all day :)
Again, the best part is the personal touches of the place. The owners have thought of everything. There are snacks laying around, cold drinks in the fridge, a lot of towels, blankets, pillows, a pull out bed, oven, fridge, washer and dryer, wine opener :) pretty much anything you would need. The place was spotless, and you can tell the owners take pride in its cleanliness. There are also a lot of really neat antiques which were fun to look at, especially for a history buff like me.
Again, the location, and most importantly the personal touch made our stay a memorable one. You felt like the place was set up just for you, as opposed to a hotel where you feel like an unimportant number.
Again, I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area, and I am sure I will be back. I loved the town of Fredricksburg. And don't forget to visit the LBJ ranch while in town, it was the second best part of my stay. The best being, of course, this house!
