We spent several months looking for the perfect location in Texas, my husband's home state, to have our 25th anniversary wedding vow renewal and family reunion with our 5 kids and spouses and 14 grandchildren - ages 17 down to 6 months - 26 of us in all. We live all over the country and Chimney Valley Lodge was the PERFECT location for us. We spent 4 nights and there were plenty of beds and bathrooms for everyone...everyone had their own space. The property was immaculate and very well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen VERY well stocked with all the appliances, dishes, utensils, pots, pans, serving dishes etc. that you could possibly need. There are 2 very nice gas stoves, a gas grill, and 2 refrigerator/freezers which we quickly filled up when we got there. There is also a large pantry and extra drawers in the kitchen for storage of any supplies we brought. There is a washer and dryer in the Lodge which a few of us used. There are 3 dining tables - 2 inside and 1 out on the deck with 8 chairs each PLUS there is a large kitchen bar with 6 chairs. There is also a folding table and 10 folding chairs available as well...we had plenty of seating. The 3 cabins and guest suite were cozy and provided everything needed to be comfortable. We spent most of our time on the deck, at the pool and the kids LOVED going to the river and swimming as well. The hot tub was also used as well as the different games available. The sandbox was a HUGE hit with the toddlers in our group as well as the toddler playroom off the kitchen. We used the fire pit 2 nights for s'mores which the kids loved as well. We used the entire property and no one was ever bored. One day we went to Sea World and the Riverwalk, which is about an hour away so very convenient. I could have spent another week just sightseeing around the Lodge. There's lots of small quaint towns surrounding it. Nita, the property manager, was very welcoming and did a great job accommodating anything that came up very quickly. The packing list she sent was very helpful and it's nice that she lives on the property and is available. Our reunion was a rousing success. When you have kids and grandkids expressing sadness about leaving each other, that is a great thing and that is what we experienced. So happy we found CVL and we look forward to coming back again someday in the future. Thank you Chimney Valley Lodge for helping us create memories that will last a lifetime!!
