This vacation rental is a great find in Austin. It had all we needed to live comfortably and felt like a second home. The property is conveniently located near two major highways with tons of shopping and restaurants within a couple minutes drive. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful in the northern hills of Austin and it makes a great place to go for a walk in the morning.
The unit is a bit small but we were able to host seven people without difficulty. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, dishes, and cookware which we used to cook many meals (though the food here in Austin is really good with lots of selection). There is a nice little patio with chairs looking out onto a small courtyard tennis court which we used quite a bit during our stay. The bed is a king size and very comfortable and solid and there is a large walk-in closet and washer/dryer. We never had a problem with noisy neighbors and most were very friendly. Overall the unit was in a very quiet and tranquil setting and met and surpassed all of our needs in terms of amenities. The unit is on the ground floor which is nice so there is no need to climb stairs. The unit was clean when we arrived and the owners put together a nice welcome presentation for our arrival.
The owners were friendly and very responsive to our needs with a quick phone call or text message reply and immediate service calls placed and taken care of for our concerns. They showed a genuine desire to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They suggested many things to see and do in and around Austin through the use of the GladToHaveYou website/app and were happy to volunteer additional suggestions. We will definitely stay with these owners the next time we visit Austin.
We really enjoyed a number of things in the Austin area. The drive north on the Capitol of Texas Highway over the Colorado river through the hills is scenic and the overlook of the river at Mount Bonnell is worth a visit. We had a blast at a downtown comedy show venue called Esther's Follies and visited the State Capitol building and grounds. The South Congress Street area with its quirky restaurants and live music is worth visiting (if you can find parking) and the flight of the bats was fun to watch. Austin is just a really laid back, cool town with a very midwestern friendly vibe that we haven't seen on the coasts. Everyone seems to enjoy taking a minute to chat which really makes for a great vacation. Try Torchy's Tacos!!
