Still fabulous!

5 of 5
We rented from Charles and Susan in 2013 and fell in love with this cabin and location. When trying to decide where to go this year, we kept coming back to this listing. After securing the rental, the cabin was sold to Joe and Cindy. Our paperwork was flawlessly transferred, and through communications we knew we were still in good hands. Upon arriving, we immediately noticed the wonderful personal touches the Mixon's have added. We found the cabin still maintained with high standards. The abundant Fall decorations really added to our enjoyment, as in Florida we don't experience the wonderful seasonal change. They also left a welcoming basket, filled with goodies to add to our enjoyable evenings in the theater room. The Mixon's checked with us to make sure everything was to our liking and were there if we needed them. The cabin has all the amenities one could want, and more. We enjoyed the fireplace while having dinner, and relaxed with movies at night. We love the theater room so much we watched 3 movies our last day there. The location is perfect for what we love about the area. We spent 12 hours at Cades Cove one day and 4 more another. We also revisited Elkmont, Tremont, and Roaring Fork Motor Trail. They all provide wonderful hiking trails, and we loved all the deer seen in Cades Cove. We even got pictures of 4 jumping over fences! One day we ventured back to Chimney Rock State Park and took the Blue Ridge Parkway back. We saw some beautiful color in all areas and really enjoyed watching the color changes at the cabin. We wish we could have stayed longer due to both the cabin and location. We will definitely be back to keep adding to our memories.

Another Incredible Stay

5 of 5
This was my second opportunity to rent a cabin from Don and Cindy as I previously stayed in their Secluded Pointe cabin in Sept. 2012. When I saw that one of their cabin's was available during my vacation I jumped at the opportunity. Don was a pleasure to deal with thru the various emails and even offered us the opportunity to add an extra night to our stay when he had an opening. With the directions Don provided the cabin was easy to find and in a spectacular location overlooking the Wears Valley. The view as we walked in the front door was incredible as we arrived just around sunset and watched the sun disappear behind the mountains thru the wall of glass in the living room. Don was also nice enough to provide us with a bottle of wine and a book of coupons for local attractions. The weather was rather wet during our stay, but we were still able to spend some time hiking in Smoky Mountains National Park including the Clingman's Dome hike and watching the elk in the Cataloochee Valley. During the rainy times, we walked around downtown Gatlinburg and the Island in Pigeon Forge. It was always nice to come back to the cabin at night and it's location is ideal as it is only about 10 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Lyon Spring Rd. which can get you into Smoky Mountain National Park. We were able to grill some hamburgers and corn on a couple of nights and the hot tub was a wonderful experience after our hikes. We even had a little bit of time to enjoy the home theater while shooting some pool. I've been coming to the Smokies for the last 8 years and it always is hard to leave when the vacation is over. It's even more difficult when we had such a special place to stay. Thanks Don and Cindy, once again for sharing you cabin with us.

Great Cabin with Amazing Views

5 of 5
My husband and I drove from Rhode Island and met my sister and brother-in-law from St. Louis. The four of us agreed that this cabin was perfect. I will begin with the obvious...the views were spectacular. The scenery changed depending on the time of day. The cabin itself was as nice the description. I always appreciate a comfortable bed with soft pillows. Not to mention, big, fluffy towels. The kitchen had everything we needed for the few meals we cooked there. And the gas barbeque grill was more convenient than a charcoal one. At night, the four of us would sit on the deck by the waterfall and light the fire pit. One night, we tried to tell ghost stories, but they were rather lame! Although we do not often watch TV on vacation, we were able to watch a couple of St. Louis Cardinal games! I could go on and on about how wonderful the cabin was!
