Amazing place. Incredibly secluded. EASY TO ACCESS

5 of 5
Our small group had an incredible stay at Happy Ours! We are currently planning our second trip there for this Fall, and we are especially excited because we have heard from the owners about some of the renovations they just finished (including adding another 1,000 square feet of living space on the 1st floor which means we’re bringing more people this time around!). Right off the bat, during our stay in the Spring, we noticed the private road was easily accessible from the main highway we were travelling on. Our small SUV easily made it up the drive way, but we have heard that since then it has also been paved and the pad has been expanded for more cars and turnaround space. We also appreciated the outdoor, motion sensor lighting for we arrived late evening and as the cabin is entirely engulfed by trees, we otherwise would have had a very difficult time unpacking the car. It’s about 10 minutes from Lake Watauga and 15 minutes from a great local restaurant we ate at called “Captain’s Table” which sits on the water (amazing fish and chips!). The inside of the cabin was very pleasant; It has everything that they advertise in terms of rooms, bathrooms, and accomodations. The living room and kitchen had a very gorgeous “cabiny” feel but the entire place still had all the amenities we hoped for. All we had to take care of was food and toiletries! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Master Suite Loft. It was very comfortable and clean, as was everyone’s experience with the other areas of the cabin. Everyone got a good night’s rest while we were there. We were struck by the view from the living room that you can also enjoy from the deck accessible from both the kitchen and living room. One morning during our stay we used the Keurig provided to make coffee and sat out on the deck relishing the view. That night we also used the provided gas grill for dinner! We went hiking on the Appalachian Trial while we were there and also rented a pontoon boat. Both activities were located very close to the Happy Ours cabin. The boating dock we rented from was located at the same place as the Captain’s Table restaurant I mentioned earlier. Very reasonable rates and we all had an absolute blast! I would highly recommend Happy Ours cabin for all types of groups looking for a retreat in the mountains. It’s a highly secluded cabin but is very accessible. It’s located close to many attractions. And it’s a very clean cabin that has more than enough space for the amount of people

A Great Relief!

5 of 5
This was our first experience with renting a home/cabin for our vacation. If any future rentals anywhere compare to this one I will feel very, very fortunate. The whole process went smoothly from start to finish. We booked a year ahead, took advantage of the payment plan and was very pleased with the results. Red Top is a home and a half! So comfortable. It's very large, yet very cozy. Mornings were the greatest, enjoying coffee on the deck waiting for sunrise. We even had the chance to enjoy a couple nighttime thunderstorms during our stay, which was something that we had hoped for. We were welcomed by "Susie", a neighboring dog who was very friendly and easily adoptable. lol She came down the mountain every day to accompany anybody who happened to want a walking partner. The area in general is very picturesque. If you feel the need to travel around there are many sights to see within an hour drive or less. We rented a pontoon boat for an afternoon and spent some time on the lake just soaking in the beauty of it all. Some of our group traveled to Bristol to take in some NASCAR events. Which was another great experience in itself! We were treated very nicely by everyone we encountered during our stay. The locals were all helpful in answering questions or just making conversation. Despite an accident requiring a trip to the ER, our week spent at Red Top Retreat will be very memorable and cherished as a great time spent with family members. A great place for us as siblings to step back in time and become reacquainted. One of the best vacations we've ever had. Thank you Melody for sharing with us!

The Raven Delivers!

4 of 5
The Raven delivered spacious accommodations, beautiful views and all the amenities that are needed when trying to escape into the Mountains for some downtime! The information provided before arriving was very accurate - especially the directions and the 411 on Dry Goods General Store. Say hello to the Duggers who offer an extremely great Breakfast and delicious homemade Pies!
