Beautiful Home, Great View

5 of 5
We just returned from a stay at Million Dollar View. Upon arriving was a bit surprised at the driveway. I didn't know such a thing existed. Although steep, we made it every time. The best advice is just to take it slow and put the transmission in low. You cant get in a hurry going up this drive, and you cant get much of a run at it. The home was very nice. Upon arrival we quickly noticed the gas fireplace and grill did not work. We called maintenance and he said he was too busy to come, and that I should just call him the next day and he would try to talk me through lighting the fireplace and that the auto lighter on the grill was too expensive to repair and I should just use a lighter. However, we didn't have a lighter and they didn't supply one. I kind of thought for what was paid per night they would spring to either fix it or supply a $2.00 lighter. So we went in town the next day to get the lighter, and while there, apparently they changed their mind and came and fixed the fireplace and left a lighter, which was nice. They have a really cool big ceiling shower in the master bedroom. Someone spent some money to make this nice shower, however, they have horrible water saver shower heads on them, and they don't let enough water out and it loses all the effect with these tiny jet like streams. So, what could be really nice, was a let down. We also had a mouse that lived under the stove that would come out occasionally. With the home being large it would be a chore to clean. The ceiling fans would spit off clumps of dust as they are really caked with dust. However I don't know how you could clean them either. Definitely bring some extra towels. The pool was warm at 84 degrees the whole time. However, I would certainly go back here. Everything else was A++. Definitely a memorable week. I would highly recommend.

Wonderful vacation!

5 of 5
Pictures online are sometimes hard to judge, but this cabin was very clean and had a lot of room. Although some of the pictures make the rooms look bigger, we had plenty of space. The bedrooms and bathrooms were plenty for our entire family of 11. The kitchen was modern, and utensils were well stocked. The thing I was most worried about was accessibility. As the internet says, every floor except for loft was wheelchair/motorized chair accessible. There was plenty of room to maneuver around furniture and out onto the decks. The glass block shower had just a little step - just needed to put a board down to roll into it. The theater was GREAT and even had a Wii system too - that should be mentioned in the amenities so that other guests won't bring their own like we did. It had a microwave down there, and appeared as though it used to have a mini fridge which should be replaced. The air hockey table didn't work properly for us, but we could still play for fun. There were plenty of other games we could play too. The bathrooms needed more hooks for hanging wet towels and swimsuits. Otherwise, a GREAT place!

Michiganders

We are a family of parents, grandparents and grand children. We typically rent each spring break in various areas of the south for a family vacation. We have used VRBO for many years to do this and are well versed in the amenities in a house that are important to kids and adults. The rental listing was very accurate...the pictures just as we found the cabin. The cabin and property were clean and well maintained. When we called the rental office for access they were accommodating (Jeannie?). We were told to call if there were any problems at all.The cabin and location are fantastic! The view is gorgeous and looks over Wear Valley. It looks like a painting! A great deck surround 3 sides of the house and provides a great view each way you look. The entire cabin is wood inside and it is beautiful. The hill is a thrill ride all its own...we didn't leave each day until daylight and were home before dark! But the hill is worth the beautiful and serene location. The game and theater room were wonderful with a wide range of games to satisfy the grandkids. Watching movies on the theater is great. The arcade games upstairs were fun also with all the adults going back in time trying to beat the Pacman high score. Nice pool table. Good TV's and dvd players in all bedrooms so everyone can go somewhere and watch what they want. The living room furniture is comfy. The kitchen is nice with a great pantry. Good pots and pans for cooking (awesome pasta cooker) and a gas grill on the deck. The pool building is wonderful. Nice pool in warm room with a great view also. On top is the fireplace and picnic area....again, the view from there is fantastic. We built fires and ate there a couple nights. Bedrooms and bathrooms very nice...excellent showers in master and two upper bedrooms. Comfy beds.We had read in reviews that internet was slow but for us it was very fast...but needed to be rebooted often. (typical with HughesNet) Direct TV in all rooms. A few things...a previous writer mentioned the number of towels...and that has not been improved upon. We had exactly 10 for a group of ten and it is hard to get them dry in between showering. The kitchen table needs surface work! Does seat 10 but table top is worn and turns white with any warm object placed on it. The beds did not all have mattress pads! We would still tell you to experience this cabin. Peaceful yet entertaining.
