Amazing Property and an Extraordinary Experience

5 of 5
My wife and I had the good fortune to stay at Tropical Hideaway this past week. It was a milestone birthday as well as a milestone anniversary trip and important that the property we chose to mark the occasion was very special, intimate and allowed for a big exhale from the busyness of life. It turned out to be all that and so much more! After reviewing the many options of where to stay on Bequia, we settled on the Hibiscus Cottage at Tropical Hideaway. We are so very glad we did! Through hard work, vision and attention to detail, Julie and Martin have created a magical place in the Caribbean on an Island that is reminiscent of the Caribbean many years ago. From the moment Julie met us coming off the ferry and Martin greeting us upon arrival at Tropical Hideaway with his infamous and deliciously potent rum punch, their warmth and attentiveness to every little detail during our stay was very appreciated. Whether it was making sure we had hot coals burning on the grill to cook some local lobster, ensuring that our provision requests were in our fridge upon arrival, or available to answer questions, they went above and beyond without ever being intrusive. Martin and Julie’s attention to their guests extended to their support staff as well. Annie, Keisha and Marlon make you feel welcome and relaxed and help keep the beautiful gardens and grounds well tended and the entire place immaculate. The entire Tropical Hideaway property is well thought out and envelops you in absolute comfort and unbelievable views. The beautiful Hibiscus Cottage was very private, provided breathtaking views, was well appointed and felt like our home almost immediately. During our stay we met some great people by the infinity pool and shared many stories, laughs and lifelong memories. At the invite of our new friends and through Martin and Julie between guests, we were also able to tour the other accommodations at Tropical Hideaway. Each lovely accommodation was a unique oasis on to itself, and would make it difficult to decide which one to choose next visit (though we absolutely loved Hibiscus). We have been fortunate over the years to visit many islands and different properties, thinking that life is too short for repeats. Well, Tropical Hideaway has changed our minds in that respect, it is that special. An extraordinary facility owned and managed by extraordinary people. We would highly recommend Tropical Hideaway on that special island that is Bequia.

The ultimate Caribbean Experience

5 of 5
My husband and I spent a week at the end of April at the Flamingo and Turtle Point Villas. It was our first visit to Bequia and the villas showcased Caribbean hospitality and service at its best. Every effort was made to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. The exquisite tropical decor of the villas set the tone at the outset and the breathtaking vistas of sun, sea and sky took our breath away. The beach, which is literally steps from the villas, is secluded and safe and the waters are pristine. A cup of Jamaican coffee in the early morning on the balcony watching the sea was the high point of each day. The visits to town by water taxi provided a truly memorable experience and the relaxed atmosphere and excellent cuisine in the restaurants and cafes in the capital mirrored the quality of the food in the Villas. The lush vegetation and hills were the perfect backdrop for leisurely nature rambles. The holiday was a real respite from the travails of everyday life and our very souls were rejuvenated. I would recommend these villas for the ultimate caribbean holiday. Thank you Nina, Carmina and Jo for providing such wonderful customer service and a very memorable holiday. See you next year! Your search for paradise ends here!

My husband and I were blown away by the Tropical Hideaway property. The owners, Martin & Julie were gracious and accommodating for the booking throughout the entire stay. They are truly remarkable people as you will see if you choose to stay at their property and learn about their journey. The rental is clean, new, and comfortable. The furnishings are top quality and state of the art including the sound systems, TV's and dependable wifi. The infinity pool offers more than a swim as you can drink and dine at the swim up bar, nap on the veranda poolside bed or rest on the edge to gaze at the harbor, bay, mountains and sunset. The grounds are pristine and well manicured. Every step on the pathways offers a unique view overlooking charming Bequia harbor. My packing advice is to pack light as the island is very casual. If you like to cook and eat in occasionally, bring restaurant packets of condiments, peanut butter, and pre-packaged spices as this will save you buying large quantities at the small-rather limited-island grocers. I recommend ordering fresh bread from 'The Upper Crust' as they will deliver piping hot baked goods for free with 24 hour notice. There are excellent restaurants to choose from and a beach front favorite for lunch is Jack's Bar. This is located on Princess Margaret beach which is at the bottoms of the hill. Gorgeous Caribbean waters, clean, and sparsely populated with people. Astonishing! Bring anti-itch ointment if you are prone to mosquito bites. Julie & Martin keep the property sprayed and plenty of personal spray on hand but when you venture off the property, you are bound to get a bite or two. Comfortable shoes such as hiking all terrains are best as the journey up and down the mountain to the rental property is steep and tiresome. Plan for 25-30 EC per trip if you hire a cab (and you will!) This is a dream property owned by wonderful people. You won't be disappointed.
