Don't Miss This Gem!

We stayed at La Batterie in October of 2014. The villa itself is beautiful with a wide sweeping view of the bay into Soufriere and the Pitons. The beds are comfortable and large and they all have mosquito netting (which is a must to set up correctly prior to dusk as we learned the hard way!). The villa is very large and open with a nice kitchen outfitted for whatever you might want to cook, a brand new grill and large seating areas. The pool was one of our favorite locations with the great lighting and waterfall adding to all of our evening swims! The road from Soufriere to the villa is very steep and narrow. We used Clavie as our driver rather than rent a vehicle and be concerned about navigating the roads and the left hand drive. Clavie was a wealth of information, very friendly and pointed out things of interest all along the way. Ask him to take you to Fedo's for lunch! The walk to Anse Chastanet beach is a very easy 10 minutes down and and a little longer uphill. Be prepared for the pricing at Anse Chastanet! Any rentals of beach loungers was between $35 to $55 depending on the type. We also hiked up Gros Piton which was amazing, but not for the faint of heart. Be prepared for the sticker shock on this one. You are required to have a guide and it cost us $35 per person to do the hike, not including gratuity to your guide. The staff of La Batterie definitely made our stay amazing. Cynthia cooked for us twice (her Chicken Curry is out of this world) and both her and Marilyn kept the place looking amazing. Cynthia also did shopping for us prior to our arrival, so it was great to arrive, have a fantastic meal from Cynthia and have food for the next few days with no worries! BK, our night watchman, made us feel very safe every evening. Terry, the groundskeeper, watched out for the house during the day and roasted fresh coffee for us! The staff at La Batterie are all very special and they really add to the overall experience here. Michael, the owner, was also an incredible host and resource. He provided our first meal when we arrived as well as a nice gift basket. In addition, his responsiveness and detailed suggestions were a great help as we planned our trip! We would recommend La Batterie to anyone visiting Soufriere without hesitation! Tiffany, Gabe, Emil & Sarah

Wonderful stay-we loved it!!

We had a great time with our friends at the villa. The views are unbelievable. From the time we walked into the villa we could not believe the water view. After we finished a few days of sight seeing, we relaxed poolside for a couple of days. Bertha is very efficient and made breakfast for us every morning except the morning we left early to climb the Gros Piton. The interior of the villa is lovely. Kitchen has everything you need, modern, clean very nice. The villa is nicer than what you see in the photos. Bedrooms and bathrooms modern and clean.

Rainforest Paradise

5 of 5
This was our second trip to St Lucia. Our first was at Sandals for our honeymoon. Ever since then, I wanted to go back and explore this beautiful little island. 5 years later (and with a baby in the oven), we decided to go back and stay at Villa Pomme D'Amour for 7 nights. My wife and I travel quite a bit and usually do the all-inclusive thing every year. This time, we wanted to actually experience the island. Our stay with Josee and Pierre was absolutely wonderful and was exactly what we were looking for. After being greeted quite friendly by Pierre at the airport, we were introduced to Josee with a refreshing (and much needed) Rum Punch along with bruschetta. I was absolutely stunned by the view from our balcony (second floor villa). We had the view of St Lucia's luscious mountains, flowers, plants and the Caribbean water. It was breathtaking.... The villa was beautiful and the pictures don't do it justice. It had 2 bedrooms (each with balconies), kitchen, safe, tv, and a large balcony, where we stayed most of the time. We usually made breakfast every morning and Josee provided some eggs and fruit to get you started. There is a grocery store about 10 minutes away by car. There is a delightful little cove a few minutes away (walking) with some great snorkelling. The pool was also great - it was always warm and romantic especially during the night. This place is right in the rainforest of St Lucia and was quite the experience. Birds come flying on the balcony during the morning looking for feed and the surrounding mountains are so so lush. But when the night hits, the forest becomes alive. You hear all sorts of birds and wildlife - yes it was loud during the night, but it's part of the experience that you just don't get from the big all-inclusives. In my opinion, what makes a great experience from a good one, is the people you meet. Josee and Pierre were absolutely great and genuinely good people who will do anything to make your stay amazing. Josee helped us with our daily itinerary and offered us tips and recommendations regarding some great local restaurants. My wife and I consider Josee and Pierre our new Caribbean friends and I would go back again. FYI, I would rent a car as Marigot Bay is situated in the middle of the island but the roads twist and turn due to the mountains. Driving around is not for the faint of heart but offers some great views. Thank you Josee and Pierre for the wonderful experience! Nick & Barbara
