Clean, safe, and convenient

4 of 5
Lots of positives about this place: bright, clean, and furnished simply with modern amenities. As mentioned in other reviews, the washing machine was very nice to have--and though it seems obvious, it was also really nice to have a drying rack and clothespins. This was really a great little place for the two of us, and conveniently located just a couple of minutes' drive from Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island (which was not on our agenda initially, but a local suggested it, and it became a highlight of the trip). Cas en Bas is just enough outside the main town of Gros Islet that people will be confused when providing directions, but Karen's written directions were very helpful. (A car is essential.) A couple of things we didn't realize: the plunge pool was one of the top features of the apartment, but because of the position of the sun, the pool is in the shade after 2 p.m. Not anything the hosts can do about that, but it's something to know. And while it was incredibly nice that there was both 110 and 220 power in many places in the apartment, not every outlet worked that way--the bathroom didn't have a good setup for a place to plug in blow dryers or a curling iron. I do want to mention just how accommodating Jerome was, and how quick he was to answer our concerns. He went out of his way to help with a problem that had nothing to do with the apartment, and probably seemed silly. But he did his best, and we appreciated the help.

Stunning views, stunning location

5 of 5
First of all, the bad point - The photographs on the website simply don't do justice to the views you will experience, it would be impossible to capture such a beautiful view using a camera! As soon as we arrived at Caribbean Blue suite we were instantly drawn to the gorgeous views out to sea and beautiful sunsets. The living accommodation has wooden Z-Fold doors on two sides which can be opened up to fully expose the views and allow the sea breeze to blow in. It has a relatively small kitchen area, although it is fitted out with everything you will need including a full-size oven, microwave, coffee maker, blender (that crushes ice). I think the management must read these reports because I noticed that an earlier review mentioned there was no pizza tray, but one is supplied now, which was useful ;-) The suite has a large air conditioned bedroom with large shower room, both of which are very beautiful. Caribbean Blue Suite is located next to (but not immediately joined to) Emerald Hill Villa and this villa was not occupied during our stay so Uriel the manager allowed us to use this Villa too, which gave us almost 360 degrees of views around the full headland and TWO pools!!!! Christine the cleaner/maid visits daily to clean, tidy and wash pots, which made us feel very spoilt. You are given a mobile phone pre-loaded with money and all useful contacts including Oasis Marigot Reception (which is across the bay and accessed via a convenient water-taxi), Albert the taxi driver, Uriel's number, etc. which we found very useful. The Suite is about a 15 minute walk down a steep hill to the village where all the restaurants are located including a small supermarket. We did this walk many times during our stay and although very hot, it wasn't too bad. The villa is about 80m (240ft) above sea level, so that gives you some idea of the height gain. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic get-away-from-it-all holiday, I can't recommend the Caribbean Blue Suite highly enough.
