Very comfortable home with great views.

Wonderful home on St Lucia! Everyone who worked on or managed the property was extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this home to a smaller group. Beautiful views!

great place to stay

4 of 5
The location of BBH is excellent for access to all parts of the island. Its secluded position on a steep hillside above tree level and surrounded by greenery, with wide views of the ocean and Castries to the North, is spectacular. The only slight disappointment for keen sea swimmers is that the surf at nearby La Toc beach, reached by an intriguing private path and steps, tends to be rough. However, several good swimming beaches are only a few minutes drive away and the lovely pool is a great substitute. The spaciousness of the accommodation is a great bonus, and all three bedrooms had similar facilities and views. The huge balcony with a wide selection of comfortable seating made a most enjoyable meeting and eating area. The fact that we were living in a family home gave added interest and the owner, Alice Bagshaw, who lives nearby, made us feel welcome and relaxed and was a mine of information about recent island history. One small downside about the facilities was the rather crowded space and dated equipment in the kitchen - a slight inconvenience for energetic self-caterers such as us! The staff, Uriel, Pearl and Junior were attentive and helpful and looked after us well. Our requirements for holiday accommodation are probably not typical of most visitors to the Caribbean, as we mostly enjoy exploring remote areas independently, but BBH would be an ideal place for both relaxing and chilling out and as a base for taking in any of the more active attractions of the island. Beach bums would do well to rent a vehicle. Finally, thanks to Oasis Marigot for facilitating out booking so efficiently and to Alice and her staff for their hospitality and attention to out requirements and special requests.

Incredible experience

5 of 5
Previous review is correct-- the pictures do not do the house justice! We had just an incredible stay. The locals also call the house "Wild Serenity," and if you stay there, you will know why. In almost every aspect the house was simply perfect. The housekeeper, Jackie, was completely incredible and went way, way out of her way to take care of us and make us feel welcome. Xavier, the owner, was very helpful to us when we were trying to find the place, and he is somewhat of a celebrity on the Island. Everywhere we went, if we mentioned we were staying at his house, we got the immediate, "Oh, I know Xavier" response. You'll think that you have take a wrong turn when trying to get there-- the road is a bit in need of maintenance by western standards, but once you arrive, it's incredibly worth it. The location is actually quite, good and convenient. The pool was great and we had trouble getting the kids out of it to go to the beach. All three bedrooms in the main house are air conditioned, as well as the entertainment/family room. We fould the architecture to be charming, simple, and yet perfect. The rest of the house can basically be completely opened up to the outside. It would be a great place for entertaining, although we really didn't do that while we were there. The beach is small, within walking distance, rocky, and the path is just a bit difficult. It's a good beach to snorkel off of, but you'll probably want to go to other beaches. It could be a good place to lay out on, and perhaps read a good book. Not such a great place to play in the water-- rocks and sea urchins. There ae several other extremely nice beaches within easy driving distance. We recommend Big Runner taxi service, and Alex's water taxi out of Marigot Bay. Jackie set us up with Big Runner (David) and Oasis Marigot made the Alex connection for us. Have Jackie cook you a local meal, well worth it, and give Xavier's restaurant, The Coal Pot, a try-- it's wonderful. We didn't make it to his other restaurant in the Rodney Bay Mall, but I'm sure it's great as well. The landscaping is incredible and I'm sure you'll spend a great deal of time admiring the view. We would recommend Barefoot Beach highly, highly, highly. I'd give it the highest rating. We found it to be excellent for families; we have three boys, 15, 6, and 3. Jackie will make you feel welcome and cater to your every need,, and the house will also welcome you with open arms.
