Vacation in Paradise

5 of 5
What can I say to summarize our visit to Akasha other than “beyond incredible.” This was our second time to St. Lucia, but the first time bringing our children. Many of the hotels are adult only, so we opted to go the route of looking for a private villa that would accommodate our family. Akasha certainly accomplished that. We had opted to try something different and take a helicopter transfer from the southern international airport to the northern airport only a few minutes from the house. When dealing with the booking for Akasha, the owner was very helpful in liasoning the transfer for us, and had ground transportation waiting for us on the other side. The villa itself is beyond compare. Facing West on the northern tip of the island, you are able to watch unobstructed views of the sunset each night, which never got old. Even our kids stayed quiet as they watched in “aww”. The amenities in the home were fantastic, and everything you can think of needing is available. We made a big dinner one night to take advantage of the great kitchen, and had everything we needed from martini glasses to serving plates. The kids were kept entertained between the media room and the pool, and the home is large enough to accommodate everyone for a vacation without feeling like you’re on top of one another by any stretch. The staff were always very friendly and helpful, and were great with the kids. Far enough away to feel private and secluded, yet close enough to visit restaurants or shopping, the home is located in an ideal location. This villa made for a vacation that we aren’t soon to forget, and for that I highly recommend the property.

Family Vacation over the Christmas Holiday

5 of 5
We arrived in St. Lucia on December 20th - which would make us the 2nd visitors to Xanadu :) Our drive from Vieux Fort Airport was closer to 2 hours, due to traffic. Another option would have been to take a jumper flight from Vieux Fort to the George Charles Aiport located just north of Castries, however we were happy to get to the know island roads right off the bat as you do drive from the southern tip of the island all the way to Northern tip. Once we arrived at Xanadu, we were exhausted so hearing all the security measures they have in place was a little unnerving, but after a good night sleep we got the hang of the security system and measures and also very much enjoyed our evening security guard named Skeet (7pm to 7am every night). Viola, the housekeeper is charming. She was never at the house overnight while we were there, but she was around a few of the days from 9am to 3pm (She does not work Sundays, and because of the Christmas holiday she had Thursday and Friday off as well). The house is absolutely gorgeous architecturally and decoratively, including stunning 180 degree views. We chartered a motor boat out of Rodney Bay for the day early on in our stay. The boat was called Exodus and was large, new looking and awesome. We motored from Rodney Bay to Anse Chastanet so we could drop a couple of our boys for a morning of scuba diving while the rest of us visited Soufriere and snorkeled near the Pitons. We saw hundreds of dolphins which was a lot of fun as well. The snorkeling was o.k. at best, which was surprising to me as I had been in the area 30 years earlier and had vivid memories of the marine life and coral. We also drove to Dennery later in the week for a fabulous day of zip lining, hiking and biking the rainforest. Even the ride there was beautiful through banana plantations, various villages and the rainforest. We then capped that visit by stopping at Marigot Bay on our return for a mid day meal at the marina. The locals on the island are as nice as can be. The grocery stores in Rodney Bay are just like those at home - which came as a pleasant surprise - especially at the Deli and when picking out wines. All in all we had a fantastic time and only wish we had stayed a few days longer.

Nice staff and great pool.

4 of 5
The staff was very nice and helpful. The kids loved the pool. Snorkeling in the cove was great. Nicole sent up an great boat trip to the Pitons and an amazing view for lunch. The Friday street festival was a lot of fun, and it was nice of the staff to come with us.
