Wonderful relaxation

5 of 5
We spent two and half weeks at the Duncan's villa. In every way possible - it just works! Of course it is their home when not rented out so it functions perfectly. All the kit is very high spec and remarkably easy to use. The store cupboard is perfect so you don't have to run around looking for things and Gigi was kind enough to sort out a welcome pack of everything we would need for the first day or two. The outside shower is wonderful, the pool perfectly positioned beside the house, the bedrooms and bathrooms large and with the air con - a haven from the heat at night! Gigi is the font of all knowledge and her organisational skills are of the highest order!! From the moment we stepped off the plane in St Kitts (taxi etc all organised by her to pick us up) to the sad moment when we left Nevis - we knew we were in very safe hands. In no way obtrusive but on the end of a phone if we needed help or advice. It is so reassuring. Nevis itself is really laid back. You need a car - preferably a 4x4 - but won't drive much faster than 20mph and within a day or so will have slowed down to Island time in all aspects of your life. The restaurants are almost without exception - excellent and we ate out most days. Its not cheap but it is high quality. Paradise beach is at the bottom of the road from the villa and from there you have access to the 4 mile long Pinneys beach with all its differing aspects - from the buzz around Sunshines, the affluence of 4 Seasons, the total solitude of much of the beach and the laid back bars where you had the opportunity to compare rum punches!! So - did we enjoy ourselves - yes without any provisos. Would we recommend the villa - absolutely. Nevis is an island for a real wind down, don't expect discos and late nights but do anticipate that everyone will smile at you and say hello.

A Delightful Villa on a Delightful Island

5 of 5
We’ve been fortunate to travel the Caribbean two or three times a year for the past 15 years. We’ve stayed in many villas and Haven in the Sun is one of the finest, without a doubt. Upon arrival, our first impression was “Wow!” The villa is very well maintained and was immaculately clean. Rita, the housekeeper, showed us through the property and gave us helpful hints about grocery shopping and the week’s upcoming events. She was always available, but otherwise unobtrusive. The furnishings are very comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. We particularly liked the screen-enclosed dining area. We found that all the spaces, inside and out, felt even roomier than the pictures led us to believe. Haven in the Sun is sited to take advantage of the almost constant refreshing breezes that flow down the slopes of Mt. Nevis. Those breezes and the villa’s high ceilings, numerous ceiling fans, and abundant screened windows keep the indoor spaces very comfortable. The bedrooms do have a/c, but it wasn’t needed. Haven in the Sun enjoys a central location on the western side of the island. Many of the restaurants, beaches, and historic sites are within an easy 10-minute drive. Paradise Beach is close by, and we took full advantage of the villa’s beach chairs and coolers for fun outings to the seashore. If you enjoy seeing the local wildlife as we do, Haven in the Sun is the place to be. Sit quietly in a comfy outdoor chair and the egrets, herons, and kingbirds will come to the pool for a drink. Outside of the beautifully landscaped and fenced yard is an open area where goats, sheep, and vervet monkeys come foraging several times a day. And they seem curious to watch the strange human creatures splashing about in the pool! Haven in the Sun and Nevis are the perfect destination if you want to relax and recharge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we look forward to returning next year.
