We’ve been fortunate to travel the Caribbean two or three times a year for the past 15 years. We’ve stayed in many villas and Haven in the Sun is one of the finest, without a doubt. Upon arrival, our first impression was “Wow!” The villa is very well maintained and was immaculately clean. Rita, the housekeeper, showed us through the property and gave us helpful hints about grocery shopping and the week’s upcoming events. She was always available, but otherwise unobtrusive. The furnishings are very comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. We particularly liked the screen-enclosed dining area. We found that all the spaces, inside and out, felt even roomier than the pictures led us to believe. Haven in the Sun is sited to take advantage of the almost constant refreshing breezes that flow down the slopes of Mt. Nevis. Those breezes and the villa’s high ceilings, numerous ceiling fans, and abundant screened windows keep the indoor spaces very comfortable. The bedrooms do have a/c, but it wasn’t needed.
Haven in the Sun enjoys a central location on the western side of the island. Many of the restaurants, beaches, and historic sites are within an easy 10-minute drive. Paradise Beach is close by, and we took full advantage of the villa’s beach chairs and coolers for fun outings to the seashore.
If you enjoy seeing the local wildlife as we do, Haven in the Sun is the place to be. Sit quietly in a comfy outdoor chair and the egrets, herons, and kingbirds will come to the pool for a drink. Outside of the beautifully landscaped and fenced yard is an open area where goats, sheep, and vervet monkeys come foraging several times a day. And they seem curious to watch the strange human creatures splashing about in the pool!
Haven in the Sun and Nevis are the perfect destination if you want to relax and recharge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we look forward to returning next year.
