A GREAT HOME BASE FOR AN EXTENDED WEEKEND IN THE BLACK HILLS

5 of 5
This place was a great place to stay for our 4 night trip to the Black Hills. My wife and I had been up there 3 previous times, and we'd always camped at nearby Stockade Lake North campground. But we no longer have our Travel Trailer, and we wanted to take our granddaughters up there so they could experience the area. The place is nicely appointed with all the necessary ammenities, and as indicated in the write-up, most everything is brand new (except the 60's era dining table and chair set, but it is in great shape and adds character to the place, gotta love turquoise vinyl!). The location is wonderful, only 4 miles from the town of Custer, which is our preferred "home base town" when visiting the area. That is about as far as we had to travel to town from the campground when we used to stay there. Having a washer dryer turned out to be a great perq, after getting caught in a deluge downpour... and needing to clean soaked and dirty clothing! The fridge has an ice maker, and the kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals, which saves a ton of money! If I have any criticisms, and they are NOT a big deal, is that the TV only had 3-4 channels (antenna), which was tough on our teenaged granddaughters. But we survived. Also, the Queen bed is a bit on the firm side for our liking, but we were usually so tired by day's end, it really didn't matter. Oh, and there is wifi! It is not mentioned in the write-up, but it is there and works well! That saved the day with the teenagers! Thanks Ken, appreciate your hospitality and the place.

DEER MEADOW LODGE WAS AN ENCHANTING PLACE.

5 of 5
Three couples sharing the house was great and the expense was reasonable. After staying here, the other places were disappointing. We would gladly recommend this to everyone. We would love to return here again someday. Thanks to the owners for a beautiful place for three days.

HEAVEN ON A HILL

5 of 5
We stayed 5 nights; family of 2 adults and 12 and 14 year old boys. This place is perfect. The scenery and views are breathtaking, and the well stocked cabin made it so easy. We were in driving distance to almost everything. Mountain Crest cabin is beautiful and it felt like a home. I enjoyed sitting on the deck drinking morning coffee and listening to complete silence, except for the beautiful chirping of the birds. This place is for wildlife lovers; deer, chipmunks, squirrels, birds, and jackrabbits! Thank you Tom for sharing your true piece of heaven with our family and providing us with memories that will last a lifetime! The pictures you find on line do not do it justice, and we were very sad to leave. I know we will be returning though! We had no problem with our Impala getting up the mountain road, although I am not sure we would attempt it on a motorcycle or in the winter time without a 4 x 4.
