Well equipped, spacious home in a charming, central setting!

5 of 5
We spend 5 days at Anita & Mike's beautiful ranch. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was very well equipped. Anita was wonderful to work with. She gave us a tour of the house and was so friendly and helpful. It's very roomy and our family of six had plenty of room to spread out. Our kids were thankful for the children's books. They also loved the cows in front of the house. Anita came over one day and brought cookies, the kids had so much fun feeding them to the cows. We visited Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave NP, Hot Springs and its mammoths, hiked on Silvan Lake, visited Badlands NP etc. We saw many buffalos, deer etc., it was amazing. There is so much to do here, it's so diverse. After visiting crowded Yellowstone NP and Glacier NP we relaxed in the Black Hills. The house is not directly on the highway but if your are sensitive you can hear the cars a little bit. That's the only thing really but everything else was wonderful. We used the fire pit one night and were gazing at the stars. Thanks Anita for everything, we had a great time. The Haenle Family

I must say this is one of the most amazing vacations we have taken had family coming to visit so we took them to Custer and found this beautiful house. We were lucky that it wasn't rented, it was wonderful, charming, and made the vacation for us and our family in Custer the perfect family time we were close to everything all of the attractions and when we got back to the house tired the beds were wonderful. Thank you so much. I recommend this home to everyone.

Great location, great accomodations!

We stayed at the Custer Ranch house with another family. There were 3 adults, and 8 children, and we were more than comfortable! The description and photos were more than accurate; they didn't do the place justice! Beautiful grounds, beautiful views of the hills in the distance. The inside of the house was well laid out, and the decor was so charming! This house is very roomy, and we were delighted that there was a whole lower level that we could use as "the kids quarters", so the adults could have quiet time after bedtime. The house was very well maintained, and the interior was absolutely clean and spotless. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that a cleaning person came daily and tidied up and made beds. We weren't expecting that, and it was lovely. The first day we arrived, there were really heavy rains, and unfortunately some wetness in the basement followed (only a very small area in a corner). We called, and someone came out right away and happily took care of the problem. All the staff we encountered at the Game Lodge (this is where the house is rented and maintained through) was helpful and pleasant. The house is only a few short miles outside the entrance to Custer National Park, and it was so conveniently located to all major attractions. It was nice to spend busy days out seeing and doing things, and then coming back to such a nice house to relax and unwind. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, except it does need to have a large frying pan. That's the only thing missing! Nice washer and dryer. Nice appliances. Some things we did on our trip that we highly recommend: Buffalo Safari Jeep ride in Custer (fantastic!), of course Mt. Rushmore (go in the early evening around 7:30 to see it in daylight, but stay to see the night program at 9pm- awesome program!), the drives up Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Rd., and a day trip out to Devil's Tower Wyoming was one of the highlights of our trip, and is a must-see. We ran out of time to see the Jewel Cave, and it was too foggy the day we chose to see Crazy Horse, but we plan on coming back next year, and will not hesitate to stay at this lovely home!
