Well equipped, spacious home in a charming, central setting!

5 of 5
We spend 5 days at Anita & Mike's beautiful ranch. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was very well equipped. Anita was wonderful to work with. She gave us a tour of the house and was so friendly and helpful. It's very roomy and our family of six had plenty of room to spread out. Our kids were thankful for the children's books. They also loved the cows in front of the house. Anita came over one day and brought cookies, the kids had so much fun feeding them to the cows. We visited Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave NP, Hot Springs and its mammoths, hiked on Silvan Lake, visited Badlands NP etc. We saw many buffalos, deer etc., it was amazing. There is so much to do here, it's so diverse. After visiting crowded Yellowstone NP and Glacier NP we relaxed in the Black Hills. The house is not directly on the highway but if your are sensitive you can hear the cars a little bit. That's the only thing really but everything else was wonderful. We used the fire pit one night and were gazing at the stars. Thanks Anita for everything, we had a great time. The Haenle Family

Great home and priced well

5 of 5
We arrived at this cabin on September 6th 2014 after a long drive from Seattle. What a relief to find such a welcoming place after a tiring road trip. Beautifully appointed, way more room than we needed for 4 people, has everything you need in it too. Definitely a great deal on a lovely home. Located perfectly to explore the most wanted sights in the Black Hills!! The remote location is actually much closer than youthink once you get to exploring Mt Rushmore, Badlands, Crazy Horse and Deadwood. Everything sort of is in a circle around this home. Very quiet and set deep in the woods gives it a true cabin feeling yet, all the household goodies are there and comfortable. The owners keep a clean and truly welcoming home for travelers. We rated it 5 stars because it is great!!!

Beautifully Maintained Home

4 of 5
This is a lovingly maintained home that was built by the owner. It is open, spacious, and well stocked for groups. It is out in the country, with beautiful stars at night that can be watched on the front porch swing or on the large back patio. It was delightful to come back to this home after a full day of activities in the Black Hills. We were visited by deer and wild turkey. The owners live in a small home next door, and are ready to help however they can. The home is spotless, and well stocked with all necessities. The large dining room table only has six chairs, and there is a counter that can be used to eat on. Additional dining is available outdoors, as long as the weather permits. There is a large family room with fire place downstairs, and a nice TV room upstairs. Wifi connection is available. There are 3 1/2 baths downstairs and one upstairs. The large master bedroom has a king size bed, which is raised and requires steps to get into. The adjoining master bath is large with a tub/shower combination. There are two to four beds in each of the other four bedrooms. The only complaint from two couples in our group was that the mattresses were much too hard, (bunkie boards instead of box springs) and the pillows were either too big or too small. These couples were not able to sleep as well as those in the master and other front bedroom. It would be nice if there were some memory foam toppers or at least eggshell toppers to soften the beds. The property advertises an indoor "hot tub". We all brought our bathing suits since where we are from, a hot tub is typically outdoors, where several people can get in and socialize together. The "hot tub" in this house is actually large jacuzzi bathtub for bathing, not socializing. Two individuals took baths in it after they had been on a hike and said it was nice for soaking. One note, guests are asked not to wear shoes on the gorgeous hardwood floors. Be sure to bring some slippers or flip flops if you don't like to walk in socks or bare feet. I really wish I could give this home 4.8 stars. Because of the rock hard beds in the bunks and upstairs bedroom, I am not giving it 5 stars. However, 4 stars seems too low since the home is really very lovely. I highly recommend it for groups.
