We are from the Indianapolis area. We had a group of 8 and stayed for a week over last New Year's holiday. We love this house!! The house is nicely furnished and it has just enough features to entertain us at night without keeping the kids away from the beach during the day. The location is perfect - a short walk or bike ride to the beach, but quiet and secluded in the neighborhood. Palmetto Dunes is really accommodating to guests, we have stayed in Shipyard which is nice too. Palmetto Dunes has a shuttle service that runs some weeks - call ahead for that.
Bring flashlights; a lot of the streets in PD are pitch dark at night, I think they don't like light pollution.
It's also a short walk or bikeride to the PD amenities including the mini mart, the bike shop and kayak rental, and a wonderful golf course which we did not get to play because of the weather.
Some of my favorite things on HHI:
Old Oyster Factory - much better than that "famous" place
Gullah Heritage Trail Tour -
Hemp Shop !!!!!! (Hemp Seed and High Tide Beads)
Sunset at (Full) Moonrise - a once in a lifetime experience.
