Third time visitor

5 of 5
This was our third visit to this beautiful house! Great for multiple families! We love the shady, quiet location just one block from the beach and within walking/biking distance of the local park and grocery store. The house is just as beautiful in person as the photos on the website. We have 4 families that stay together and the house is roomy and comfortable with LOTS of sleeping space. Two couples take the two upstairs bedrooms (these bedrooms have extra beds in them which could be helpful for families with young children), our girls occupy the upstairs "bunk bed room" which is small but private and very sweet! The teenage boys sleep in the bunkbeds in the upstairs tv room. There is not as much privacy in this room, but our boys LOVE it because the beds are super comfortable and the room has a large sectional sofa and a Very large screen tv! Another couple sleeps in the master bedroom downstairs, and my mom sleeps in the quaint bedroom (with the two twin beds) near the kitchen. This bedroom could also be convenient for a nanny or babysitter. Having the laundry chute from the upstairs bathroom to the master bathroom laundry room is convenient. Since access to laundry is through the master bedroom, we make sure whoever sleeps in the master suite is not a big "napper" so that others in the house have access to the laundry room throughout the day. Having two family rooms/dens is very convenient, as the teenagers can hook up their gaming system to the upstairs television while others may watch a movie or sports on the downstairs television. But even with two televisions going, there are still places in the house to sit and read and relax and two big tables for playing cards or board games. I particularly enjoy reading on the loveseat (off of the kitchen dining area) and in the rocking chairs on the back screen porch. We had gracious room for eating all together at the large dining table but also enjoy the spacious eating area in the kitchen as well. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, flatware, and cookware and has just about anything you need for meal prep. The house internet works great. We brought a laptop with us and left it at the kitchen desk (in the common area) for all in the house to use during the week. There are plenty of places to ride bikes and run within the neighborhood and around the island. There are also tennis courts and basketball courts at the public park just a couple of blocks away, which we enjoy. Super place ~we will be back!

Awesome House for large groups

5 of 5
My extended family of 22 rented the Hunley House and another house on the same street for a beach vacation. We could not have been happier with the house. The first floor had a wide porch with chairs, swing, and 2 gas barbecues. Inside was an open floor plan offering a great space for our large group. The kitchen was the best equipped I have ever found in a rental. And there were lots of beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. It was a very short walk through the dunes to a wide, sandy, and uncrowded beach. Unlike the southern part of isle of Palms, there is no street parking here. So therefore, no daily beach visitors. We had the beach almost to ourselves. And the 84 degree water was divine. It is only 30 minutes from downtown Charleston, too. The house was beautifully kept and the owner super to deal with. I hope I get a chance to return.

Beautiful home, perfect location!

5 of 5
The home was clean and comfortable with plenty of space for our large family plus extended family. We appreciated the supplied towels, bedding, and dishes. We enjoyed the enclosed porches and were grateful for the outdoor shower to keep the beach sand out of the house. The beach was so close--an easy few minutes walk that our littlest children could handle easily--especially with the prospect of the beach sand and ocean waves awaiting them! We also loved the proximity to Charleston and were able to easily enjoy the sites of the city and surrounding area. We got to Ft. Sumter, Ft. Moultrie, Patriot's Point, Boone Hall plantation, and downtown Charleston all in 25 minutes or less. Paula was fabulous about quickly responding to any questions we had. I highly recommend this home and will be looking here first when we're ready for our next Charleston/Isle of Palms vacation!
