My wife and I brought our 5-year old for a week in Folly Beach and had an absolutely fantastic stay in "This Place". This cottage, along with "That Place" next door, were recently remodeled with little expense spared. The open-plan living space is thoughtfully planned (the owner is an architect) and decorated with fun & useful vintage treasures. The private, restful bedroom toward the back had a comfortable bed and overhead fan. The bathroom is not to be missed: a large floor-to-ceiling tile masterpiece with two shower heads (one a rainfall type) and private access to an outdoor shower. In the kitchen, we had everything we needed for storing groceries and making meals. Outside, the beach is so close that you can come home for lunch/naps. There's a kids playground & b-ball court just a few hundred yards away from This Place too. The main street of Folly Beach is also within easy walking distance, making dine-out nights extra easy (be sure to check out the Lost Dog Cafe and consider Rita's for dinner). You can rent bikes/golf-carts nearby but we didn't need either as everything was so close. The owner was non-intrusive but, when we did happen to bump into him, he was helpful and happy to answer all of our questions. We recommend checking out the lighthouse for a leisurely adventure nearby. Downtown Charleston is amazingly close and there is an endless number of things to do. In just a few short days, we got to the aquarium, the naval museum (actual warships), took a carriage tour, a ghost tour, and made a plantation visit - all on a reasonable budget and while putting a priority on beach time and shell-hunting. We can't say enough good things about this place! It was so easy and restful - just perfect for our small family. I hope you get the chance to experience it for yourself!
