Best of both worlds-Beach & creek at your doorstep

5 of 5
We love Fripp, but staying at this house truly made our trip fantastic! First it's almost at the point of the island (which turns into the main drag for golf carts to cruise at dusk, and you have a front row seat :) We love that we were directly across the street from the beach and also that we were sitting right on the creek with our own dock! Crabbing, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, boating all from our backyard -What a treat. Our 3 boys were in heaven. Not to mention the island is covered in deer and some will walk right up to you. When the boys wanted a break from the beach and boat, we would drive over to the pool near Wardel's Landing for lunch (a good one), swimming and a few frosty beverages for mom and dad :) We trailered our boat down and kept it at the marina which gave us even more chances to explore around the waterways. One thing I was dying to do, but the weather did not permit during our visit, was rent paddleboards and go over to Pritchard's Island (which is just across the river from the dock at the house!) We did get to go spend an afternoon exploring on Pritchard's though and that kept my boys (and us) thoroughly entertained. I highly suggest going to Johnson Creek Tavern for some great fried shrimp - we live in Charleston, SC and I actually think that JCT's has some of the best I've ever had. I can't say enough about how great our week was (even with a tropical storm throwing in a few curveballs). Thank you, thank you for sharing your home with us - We can't wait to find another excuse to come back down.

Home away from Home

5 of 5
This house is fantastic! If you don't enjoy yourself, something's wrong. The accommodations are amazing...very homey. We cook every night and had everything we needed for the variety of meals that we did. The location to everything is great. We weren't too far from the beach; nice short walk if you want. Having little ones with us made the park being so close great. We were very comfortable with letting them walk or ride their bikes to the park. Also a little golf cart ride away is Camp Fripp. This place has great activities for kids and adults during the week. If dolphins are one of your favorite sea animals make sure you take in one of the trips that are available; and if you like crabs, you can drop a crab pot off the dock for a nice catch. We can't forget our friends the deer! The kids love looking for them in the yards or going out on golf cart rides to look for them. We will be back to visit Dock of Dreams or Sipp in on the Dock of the Bay. Fripp is hip!!!

Great Home!!

5 of 5
Perfect vacation - everything was as promised. We've been to Fripp many times, and were able to check the location out prior to booking. Very secluded pool - I was surprised how much the Private Pool thing meant to the family, because we were always content just going to the crowded island pools in prior visits, but this was nice. Amenity cards aren't available with the purchase of this house, but based on our prior experience, this wasn't a huge deal for us and this was very clearly disclosed to us. Our favorite eat-out place is Johnson's Creek Tavern anyway!! - Just off the island, so no amenity cards are necessary, and much better from our experience than the more expensive on-island restaurants. We would have wanted the amenity cards if we didn't have our own pool, but since we did, no biggie. Also, there's just something sickening about buying the amenity cards (which we've done many times) when you are just buying the right to spend more of your money on the island places of business?? I think in the past we've spent $60-70 per amenity card and then blown hundreds more on the amenities. So, this actually made our vacation much cheaper. The Bedrooms were nice because they felt like you were able to get away from the noise in the main areas (the kids room may still have had some noise, but I didn't stay in that one). The Master BR and Master Bath was HUGE. We were able to put our baby in a pack & play in one of the closets, with the doors cracked, this worked great, but we commented that if we needed to, we could have added air mattresses, etc to that enormous room. Loved the proximity to being on the beach, and you have beach at all tides where this house is located. We were amazed how much we used the golf cart all week, and that added a ton to what we'd been missing at Fripp in year's past. Overall, the ownership just seems to be staying on top of this house compared to others we've stayed at. Carpet was brand new, pool was just one year old, kitchen was truly great, and stocked just the way I'd hoped it would be. I would recommend this house. JJ
