I lived in this beautiful townhouse for three months between April and July, 2013, and life was really good. This wonderful opportunity came about because the owner needed a petsitter during her two month vacation and invited me to stay in her rental townhome for the remaining length of my visa. We became close friends in the process and a tiny Teacup Yorkie will always be my dearest baby.
This excellent, well-appointed home looks exactly like the photos and is very quiet and comfortable in an attractive Parklands neighborhood near to shopping malls and public transportation. It is completely secure with a privacy fence and a good alarm system. The patio is spacious and is an excellent spot for outdoor cooking and entertaining.
My stay was during the winter but it was very similar, weatherwise, to my Florida home. Most days are clear and sunny, though you might see all the seasons in one day.
Cape Town is truly a most beautiful place and much more than simply a city. It has many beaches and harbors; many mountains, including the ever-present icon, Table Mountain; many distinct, village-like neighbor-hoods, all with world-class cafes. There are so many things to do for sightseeing, but also, everything in the way of shopping, especially for finding good fashion on a budget.
Americans, Aussies and Kiwis will feel as if everything is very inexpensive and affordable in South Africa, due to the favorable exchange rate. That's probably true of the UK, as well. I'm an around-the-world traveler, so I can attest that this country is easy on the pocketbook compared to most other Westernized countries. And yet, it is modern and safe with everything in good repair. South Africans are lovely people and everybody speaks English. How can you lose?
