The perfect vacation place. More than we expected

5 of 5
This is the first time we have used Home Away and Regina has set a high standard! We were in town for our son’s wedding, and could not get a hotel room in Bristol. From the moment we got to Bristol, nearly late for the rehearsal, Regina was helpful. She got us into the apartment with no fuss and quickly got out of our way so we could get to the church. Our plan was for the groomsmen to get ready at the apartment, but his bride asked if the girls could get ready there. I gave Regina a heads up that the Bride wanted to take pictures in the back yard and she really out did herself. The trellis with grape vines was decorated for us! By time we got back to the apartment from the rehearsal dinner, we just wanted to fall into bed, and a very comfortable one it was. The fridge had all we needed for a good breakfast (juice, eggs), muffins on the table and lots of coffee. On Sunday morning, Regina showed up with champagne flutes (and more coffee) to go with the bottle of champagne she had left for the bridal party. She didn’t mind all the extra traffic that the bridal party entailed. Besides the bride, 4 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, mothers of the bride and groom, grandmother of the bride, there was the hair stylist, the photographer, and the limo driver. And yes, we all managed to get ready in the apartment. The sunroom had several buckets of toys for young children, and kept the flower girls busy. The apartment was very clean, so the bride had no concerns about her dress hitting the floor. The furniture was comfortable and new, with lots of seating space. But it was all the little things that Regina did that set this apart. There was a basket in the bathroom, with all the things you might possible forget. A basket in the kitchen with lots of quick snacks, and items in the fridge that eliminated rushing to the store. As one of the bridesmaids put it, “She did all this, knowing you were here for a wedding and would likely never come back!!!” I really like the thoughtfulness of the notebook full of things that Regina may have told us, but in our hurry may not have registered… like how to turn on the heat. We went from having the air conditioning on Friday to having the heat on Monday. We found Bristol a lovely town, close to Providence and Newport. So we plan to go back, just as we plan to rent Regina’s apartment again. And thanks to the folks at Judge Roy Bean Saloon who let us hang out after the wedding (without much drinking).

Our delightful Week in Bristol

We found this property super for our needs. It slept two adults and three children very comfortably with a large, bright well appointed living area with views of the water. The apartment is very well equipped with cable, AV, AC, washing machine, dryer and two car spaces. The owner was very pleasant and responsive to any queries (Thank you Kristin). It is located at the top of a couple of flights of stairs, so small children or people with disabilities may struggle however, we found the spacious stairs far more simple to navigate than we first thought. I was not a problem for our 9 year old twins, nor to carry up groceries. The property is surprisingly close to the high street, but behind the street facing properties. The local Sunrise Cafe was a pleasant find with a wonderful atmosphere and very popular with locals. Highly recommended. We would love to come back for another vacation.

Great value location

You are renting the complete, upper floor of a double that is well tended, with off street parking at the end of a very short street. Two full bedrooms are provided, one with a double bed and the other has two single beds. Both bedrooms are large enough, bright and airy, and are equipped with individual air conditioners capable of keeping meat cold. The central area has a good kitchen and a living area. The TV is smaller, the videos limited and the selection of cable shows are limited. But in a world where everyone has iPhones and Kindle, it shouldn't be a problem. I don't want to put Sheila on the spot but she was kind enough to lend us two bikes to use. You shouldn't expect that from her. She is an animal lover and that suited us just fine. We loved our stay. Her description was accurate, the spot very clean, she provided over the top service (including mailing back to us a pair of shoes left behind) and the room had excellent reference material to point us in the right directions. Places we enjoyed right nearby? ... Blount's Clam Shack. Trafford's made an excellent steak and eggs breakfast to go. Trendy's Pizza in Barrington, and there's an excellent, excellent bakery on that same street a little further down. Get your pastries for breakfast there. Living Design, for us, was a neat find right on Water. Bit of further drive but totally worth it? Aunt Carrie's in Narragansett was all that and a bag of chips (brought home a loaf of their incredible bread they give with dinners); Brickley's home made ice cream, also Narragansett was a fine scoop. My daughter gets cupcakes from all over the best shops in the world, and she liked Cupcake Charlie's in Newport. People told us "North" in Providence would have made a good stop. The Ghost tour in Providence was worthwhile.
