This is a really beautiful home in one of the older, established estate areas in Jamestown. It was perfect for our mini-family reunion, offering more than enough space for 9 of us - as the house itself is enormous, and the outside grounds more than ample. We couldn't get our son out of the pool most of the days, and the perfect front porch soon became my mother's favorite place in the house, from coffee in the mornings, to cocktails in the evening.
The location really couldn't be better, as it offered the best of both worlds in terms of quiet/relaxation, while still having easy access to the quaint village of Jamestown and the more well-known Newport (just a 10 min drive over the bridge, or a great 30 min ferry ride a 5 minute walk away in town). The village is small, but we didn't mind the quieter atmosphere as it has everything you would want, without the crowds and hustle of Newport - it has a few charming restaurants and shops, including an ice cream shop that became a must-walk-to every evening for us after dinner.
The owners, Howard and Susan, were incredibly accommodating and made everything so easy throughout the rental process. The house was fully stocked with towels, linens, necessities, etc., to the point where every time we thought of something we ourselves had forgotten, we were thrilled to find already in front of us. The kitchen was great for preparing large family meals and the pub off the dining room was a fun place to congregate after the little ones went down for the night. It is of course an older home and while it had obviously been thoroughly renovated at some point, it does show its age and the quirks that come along with it, but our few issues were so minor it really didn't effect us at all. Overall, a pretty fantastic place to spend a week as a family of all ages. We really can't recommend it enough!
