This house is a perfect get away for families who are looking to stay near the beach and all the fun Newport has to offer. We had 6 adults and 4 children on our trip, and the house never seemed crowded. 3 of the bedrooms are large and have plenty of space for pack n plays for the little ones. The kitchen is well equipped for those who choose to stay in for dinner. The Keurig was a big hit for us coffee drinkers who don't like to make large pots of coffee, but a traditional coffee maker is also available for those who do. The deck with 2 dining tables and large awnings is a comfortable place to dine or relax. Having off street parking for up to 3 vehicles is a bonus, considering you can't park on the narrow streets. The beach chairs and sand toys that are available for guests made packing the car a lot easier prior to our trip. Finally, the house was very clean and seems to be newly updated. The bathrooms are good sized and plenty of towels are available. The one drawback of Middletown is the town ordinance that prohibits outside noise after 10pm. So sitting on the deck with friends to chat and have a beverage after the kids go to bed is difficult. This in no way reflects upon the owners of Briarwood Beach House, however. They have a great place that we all enjoyed!

From the moment we turned onto Lloyd road my wife and I had that sense of "oh, this is going to be good!" The house is situated in a grove of trees with ocean views bordered by beautiful homes and a horse farm just across the street. Its a very quiet neighborhood that allows a chance to take in the sounds of the ocean and the wind rustling through the trees. The house itself was impeccably clean and well appointed the way a home is, not a rental property. From the gourmet kitchen with granite counters to walk in showers, stone firplace and stunning two story sunspace that created two distinct spaces it was ideal for both shared and private time. The house is about three miles from the quaint village of Wickford which is an old New Engalnd seaside village with many shops and a seafood market right on the docks. If you're looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay with a natural connection to the ocean rather than the beachy feel of typical oceanfront rentals thsi is the place. Ruthann, the owner, clearly cares about the space and the people who stay there and was very helpful in recommneding local places to help make the stay more enjoyable.

We took in a second vacation at this lovely cottage! Once again our stay was a delight and the perfect home base for a family vacation. Our twin boys loved the bunk beds and our dog was in 7th heaven on the beach. After mornings with coffee and the little ones playing on the private rocky beach we could head to the Newport beaches and attractions or, on a rainy day, up to Providence to explore. We always made sure to be back to enjoy the fantastic sunsets over the bay from the cottage's deck with a glass of wine. The cottage was clean and comfy and I'm sure we'll be back again to enjoy it next year.
