My DH and I haven't had a real vacation since our honeymoon 3 years ago. Bonnet Shores was a dream come true.
To start with, the apartment was immaculate! The fully stocked kitchen including a double sink, dishwasher, and large fridge/freezer was a real plus, especially since we chose to save $$$ by eating in. There is a nice and cozy sitting area, tv, wifi...bed was super comfortable too...the bathroom was fully stocked with towels and toiletries as well. (There was a washer/dryer [that we didn't use] but for longer stays may be included in the deal.) Noise from the neighbors didn't bother us much since the sound machine covered it up.
It is literally a 5 minute walk to the beach, and less than 2 minutes to the "pond" (read: huge lake). We enjoyed kayaking while watching sunset over the pond. Bonnet Shores is a upper-class, pristine beach town. We loved the fact that by 9pm the neighborhood went to sleep. It was a kind of back to nature experience; going to bed early and waking up at dawn rested and refreshed. So as not to disturb the neighbors (by driving around) we took a walk at night to the "marina" and even spotted a shooting star on the way!
The best part of our stay was the day we took the ferry to Block Island. We biked around the Island - the views are totally awesome, Block Island is a fun touristy place to visit! We also explored the mansions in Newport, did the cliff walk and 10 mile drive.
Barbara was so pleasant to deal with. Right from the first phone call, I immediately felt comfortable and knew that she would be the perfect hostess. During our stay she was always available to answer our questions and give suggestions for great places to check out. Now, this part is not recommended, but in our haste to leave, we forgot our garment bags in the closet. Barbara was really gracious about it, and had our stuff shipped back to us via UPS the very next day! Thanks so much for a great stay!
