Excellent Option for Montreal!!

5 of 5
This rental was an excellent option for my family of 4. What made this a great rental was A) the location and B) the roof deck. The location is perfect for getting around Montreal. Sites in Montreal are spread out so no one location puts you near everything and public transit is a must. This site is central and the 715 and 705 bus lines run within steps of the condo. These lines take you to major t stops on the green and orange lines and directly to the old town and port. Suggest purchasing the $30 metro pass for the week ($24 for 7 days and $6 for card) and kids 12 and under are free. Great value and necessary. Overall, Griffin town appears to be an up and coming part of town with a lot of young workers and some terrific condos. Grocery and convenience stores are only blocks away and construction suggest more are coming. The condo facility itself was amazing. The roof deck is rare for Montreal as the complex uses smaller 10 story buildings connected by roof decks, therefore resulting in huge space up top. 2 pools, 20+ grills, sand area and outdoor games like pool table and foosball. We could take our kids to a site during the morning and unwind with them in the afternoon on the roof deck. It was perfect for a metro vacation because you have the best of both worlds. The indoor gym, club room and pool were also great for bad weather or winter. At night the roof deck is great for viewing fireworks or unwinding. The condo is also steps to the elevator, so the deck takes 2 minutes to reach. Finally the condo and parking spot were both excellent for the city. Plenty of room for 2 people or a family of 4 with two small kids. Overall, you probably will not spend too much time in the condo if you visit in the summer. Highly recommend the condo and will be looking forward to renting again in the future. Jay Niles

Amazing Penthouse

4 of 5
The photos accurately depict this gorgeous property which is located blocks away from restaurants, tourist attractions, nightlife, shopping and grocery. The owner also fulfilled my request to have Prosecco, cheese and smoked meats in the apartment upon arrival as a welcome gift for my boyfriend --- we were celebrating his birthday. The unit was very clean and well kept; with everything we needed. The décor is modern, the bed was comfortable and the lighting created a magnificent ambiance at night. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. I would definitely recommend the property, but be cautious of the property manager. He arrived early on check-out day without calling or knocking--- the penthouse has an elevator as the front door. He arrived at a very private time and created an embarrassing situation for all of us. When he came back later, he did not apologize to us and he tried to keep our deposit by claiming he had instructed us to service the hot tub each day during our stay. Excuse me? The paying guest has to service the hot tub daily? Neither my boyfriend nor I remember him discussing this. Our understanding was that we would add a chlorine tablet IF we used the hot tub. Since we did not use the hot tub or the upstairs deck during our stay, we never added chemicals. He claimed that we had damaged the hot tub by not adding chlorine tablets each day. He also claimed we had broken a part off of the tub (shaped like an elbow of a pvc pipe). We believe he staged the part next to the tub in an effort to keep deposit. After verifying that the hot tub was in working order, the owner did not want to keep the deposit. We left a small portion with the owner as a gesture of good will in case we had misunderstood our obligation to service the hot tub. Our experience was great until the check-out experience with the property manager. Suggestion to other travelers: Make sure you are on the same page with the OWNER about your obligations related to the hot tub. Activity suggestions (what we did): Toque restaurant, La Champagnerie, Place de Arms lounge and roof top bar, Rainspa , picnic at Mount Royal (food from Schwartz deli), Curios (cirque performance), Place de Spectacles outdoor area with tons of music, food and wine, river boat brunch (AML), Upstairs Jazz Lounge. Although we used cabs and walked, I would probably walk almost every place we went now that I know my way around ---unless I was wearing heels.
