attractive, quiet and enjoyabe

4 of 5
beso del caribe is an attractive, modern, and well equipped property. i would and have recommended the property to a friend. the kitchen is well equipped with everything in working order. the bedrooms are comfortable with ample closet space. the mattresses are a bit soft. the bathroom is good sized with a large shower. we wanted cable tv to watch play-off games. the dish needed to be repaired while we were there. we wish that pbs had been available. the wifi was sporadic at best. the living room chairs and couch were not very comfortable and the positioning of the tv was a bit high for comfortable viewing. the deck was very comfortable and had a nice view. it felt private and pleasant. there is a resident cat, who was very cute and entertaining! we have rented many properties throughout the caribbean and beso del caribe was the best and the most expensive!!!! we highly recommend the property and we hope to rent it again in 2016!

The perfect Vieques vacation

5 of 5
Our experience absolutely could not have been any better. Joeanna and Hector had already offered to pick us up at the airport, but I had forgotten to follow up with them the day of our arrival. Nevertheless, they were right on time, and they scooped us up in their Jeep as soon as we landed. They were SO warm and friendly, welcoming us with all smiles. They gave us a brief tour of the island, showing us where the grocery store and best gas station were, giving us restaurant and bar recommendations, directions to the seaglass beach, etc. It only took 15 minutes or so, but it was super helpful. We felt very comfortable getting around on our own after this. They then dropped us at the Jeep rental place, and waited for us to get our rental squared away so we could follow them to the rental house. The first thing we noticed upon arriving was the yard -- It is really beautifully landscaped. If you have the time, be sure to get Joeanna to give you a tour of all of the vegetation in their yard. They have hibiscus, ylang ylang, passion fruit, coffee plants & tons of other beautiful flora. The guest house area where we stayed, Casita Ylan, despite being attached to the main house, has it's own entrance, &even it's own fenced in yard & patio area complete with a grill &string lights. So cozy and thoughtfully appointed. Joeanna and Hector were right next door if we needed anything or had any questions, which was nice, but we definitely felt like we had plenty of space and privacy as well. The interior was very basic, like a studio apartment... Small kitchen, small bathroom, and a bedroom, but it was everything we needed and more. We didn't plan to do a lot of cooking because we were only there for three nights, so we only used the kitchen for making coffee in the morning. But it was nice to at least have the option of cooking. The kitchen is small, but it had everything you would need to prepare a nice meal if you wanted to-- stove / oven / microwave / etc. Overall you get a great value for the money because it's bigger than a hotel room and has more amenities. The bedroom was so cozy. We would sometimes leave windows open and fans on, and other times we'd go with the A/C. Either way was SO comfortable overall, & the bed was super comfortable & clean too. We had SO MUCH FUN in Vieques, and we highly recommend staying at Casita Ylan. Joeanna & Hector were excellent hosts & our vacation was perfect.

Awesome vacation home! Our family had a blast!!

5 of 5
We rented this home for a tropical holiday vacation for 9 adults and it accommodated our group very comfortably. We arrived late at night so it was difficult to appreciate the beauty of the home and the view until the next morning. Overall the house and the amenities in the home are accurately represented in the pictures (which is always a relief). The house is divided into an upstairs and down stairs unit with separate entrances to both. The rooms were spacious and included appropriate furnishings and individual a/c units. The remainder of the house does not have a/c units, but with the lovely tropical breeze and ceiling fans, we didn't find additional cooling necessary. Our group consisted of 4 couples and one single person. If we had 5 couples, I think we would have needed to be creative, as one of the rooms upstairs only contained a twin bed. There may have been another configuration possible if we needed it. The kitchen in each unit was well-stocked with everything we needed to prepare and serve meals that we cooked in the house or on the great grill. The veranda on the upstairs unit provided a breathtaking view for our morning brunches and coffees. The kitchenware, along with other home accessories are high quality. There's a washer and dryer outside under the stairs to do laundry, if needed. The island is pretty small and easy to navigate. We rented cars but also used the taxi service while we were there. Both experiences were positive. Be aware of the wild horses and dogs that reside on the island. They also use the roads to travel, but we didn't have any problem sharing. We had great food the entire time we were on the island. The main attractions were the dinners at Trade Winds and Next Course. Both great meals, but Next Course definitely wins the gold star for amazing food and EXCELLENT customer service. We did the bio bay tour which was beautiful (be prepared for a bumpy ride to get to the bay). We played at sea glass beach near the house, a beach at Esperanza, and Caracas (the best of the three). The house is stocked with plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers. The hospitality we received from Ron and Cheryl (the property managers) was wonderful. They were very accessible and informative. The owners were also very responsive and helpful (Rick answered all of my questions about the ferry and prepared me for that experience.) Overall, I highly recommend this home!!! Our expectations were greatly exceeded.
