Perfect size, beautiful views, great local beach!

5 of 5
My whole family had the pleasure of taking a week vacation and staying in Rick and Heidi's beautiful home in the laid back island of Vieques. Our communication with the owners prior, during, and after our visit was excellent. They also employ a property manager, Ron, who lives across the street and was available at any time for questions and also offered pick up and drop off at the local ferry to Fajardo. The house was a great size to fit our family. We spent the majority of our time on the open air porch upstairs that has spectacular views and catches the daily breezes perfectly. We also utilized the downstairs kitchen and outdoor grill daily. Both kitchens were stocked very well with all basic cookware and necessities. Beach and bath towels were plentiful, but the house also has laundry which we definitely used during our visit. The beds were all comfortable and each room has AC if needed, but the windows provided delightful breezes. The pool is not large in size but definitely fun for kids or for a quick dip to cool off or to catch one last swim for the day. The best part about this house and location is the proximity to a beautiful beach that we accessed daily. The walk barely takes 5 minutes and leads to a sandy shore full of sea glass and crystal blue and green water. Moderate current but definitely swimable water for all ages. Wild horses can also wind up exploring the beaches on occasion. Heidi and Rick's home is stocked with many beach chairs and sand toys. As much as we loved this beach, it was also exiting to explore some of the other magnificent beaches on the island. Rental cars are recommended but taxis are also available for low costs per person. Heidi and Rick offer recommendations on beaches and restaurants to visit. Maps and books on the island are also around the house, along with CDs and movies for indoor entertainment. Overall, we are all very happy with our experience in Vieques and at this beautiful home. Hope to visit again soon!

Beso, home away from our residence...

5 of 5
Granted this wasn't our first visit to Vieques, yet it was our first time at Beso del Caribe. my wife and I have stayed at various different locations and guesthouses, Beso is (in our opinion) is ideal for those who have been to the island previously and are looking for a place just far enough, though, not too far away from town. having a vehicle is a plus for traditional "tourist" activities but not entirely necessary. Dog beach is a stones toss down the hill and the view is remotely calming, if one is looking to "just get away and relax". which was our desire, then this is the place. That we did, every morning we took the time to sit out on the deck, calmly listen to soothing sounds of the ocean waves, while serenely enjoying our morning coffee, a far cry from our daily routine of shotgunning our coffee, running out the door to beat the traffic almost forgetting to swallow the mouthful of coffee prior to giving each other a kiss good bye as we run out to face the world. At Beso, we faced the world, faced the world by watching the waves, facing the ocean, reflecting on how much we miss because society is constantly hurrying along attempting to complete a task that can wait, we found ourselves admiring the horses who roam the roadways reminiscing of times when the neighborhood children would play until the streetlights came on. When you desire to go somewhere, to relax, have no rush nor responsibilities, Beso is the place to be. Don't bother spending stupid amounts of reserved funds on an "all inclusive resort" there's always a time limit, a schedule to maintain, or some hidden fees. Staying at Beso, the beds are more comfortable then any other place we've stayed, both the wife and I have various sleeping patterns, between her waking at the first rooster crow or my three busted vertebra, one of us will have an issue wherever we stay, Beso is the first place that both of us slept comfortably, soundly and deeply. Just open the windows and allow the ocean breeze to calm your aching bones. Not once did we turn on the television. Yes there is full entertainment, satellite TV, DVD, PPV, even music stations, yet why bother? All the entertainment one could remotely desire (within reason) is a five minute drive to town or heaven forbid, a ten minute drive to the other side of the island. But, the island is an entirely different topic, Beso is the home to reside during that precious time away, so many of us require, though so few of us find. Find the time...
