An amazing property!

My husband, myself and our 2 grown sons had a wonderful time at Casa La Puerta. The house was in a great location with easy access to both towns. The house looked great in the pictures and not only lived up to, but surpassed our expectations. It was clean, had lovely yet comfortable furnishings, a well equipped kitchen, killer views and wonderful outdoor spaces which got a lot of use. We appreciated all the beach equipment and the large grill. The only drawback at all was at times the water pressure left something to be desired. The house manager, Karen, was friendly and very helpful with local information and recommendations. We rented a car from Jurgen across the street at Abreeze Guesthouse. It was quick and easy, the car was well maintained and clean. He picked us up at the airport, drove us to the house and helped us get acclimated on the way. We loved the many beaches we could get to, Sun Bay being one of our favorites. But check current beach closings before you go to avoid disappointments. A number of beaches that we had planned to go to, that had formerly been part of military holdings, were closed due to the discovery of unexploded ordnance and rental vehicles were no longer allowed on the road to Green Beach after a road wash out. The night tour of the Bio-Bay was amazing. As of this summer, in order to protect the bay, trips were limited to weekends only, so plan accordingly. We extended our stay by a day to take a tour and it was well worth it. We ate at Bananas looking out over the water, more than once and enjoyed it each time, especially their great happy hour. We had breakfast at Bellybuttons. Great pancakes. We had a birthday dinner at Quenepos. A great place for a celebration. I would definitely recommend this property to everyone.

Private, serene, restoring.

This was possibly one of the most peaceful & relaxing vacations we've had. It isn't just the beautiful simplicity of the casa; the remote hilltop setting, the rustling of the palm grove in the steady breeze, & the unobstructed view for miles all combine to absorb the stress from you & put you in a contemplative mood. Colleen, the house manager, met us at the airport so we could follow her to the house. She then gave us a brief but thorough primer on how the house works & how to get around Vieques before giving us her cell phone & leaving us to decompress. Ben, the homeowner, was responsive to my inquiries & was a pleasure to speak with by phone. He even called the house on our second day just to make sure we were happy or see if we needed anything. I felt comfortable that I could call either one if we needed anything at all; we didn't. The house & grounds, like Vieques, are unfussy, refreshing, & tranquil; luxurious in its solitude. Thank you Ben, for the privilege of staying in your special home.
