Getting away from the cold winter!

4 of 5
We love Vieques! We were there 15 years ago and little has changed! There are a few more people vacationing there with more cars, but it's still a wonderful, laid back, friendly island. We took my 89 year old mother-in-law this time and she loved it too! She really enjoyed watching the iguanas and sitting on Glass Beach. We were happy that Red Beach is open now, it's the most beautiful beach I've ever been to! A touch of glass beach house was very nice. It's very comfortable and has most everything you need. We were a little disappointed about a few things: there was no snorkel equipment and that would have been nice (it probably didn't say there was any and I assumed there was), the shower didn't drain well in the downstairs bathroom and the hot tub did not get hot at all! But all in all our stay was wonderful! We loved being able to walk to restaurants, stores and bars from the house. Our favorite restaurant was Coqui Fire, right up the street! The food is great! We really loved listening to the waves and coqui at night after the absolutely beautiful sunsets!!

perfect in every way

Great location, private road located on the W hotel property The house has all the amenities you could. Imagine. Located on a small private beach. We had our daughters wedding here and it was the perfect place. Can"t wait to go back.

Hilltop heaven

5 of 5
Our stay at Hilltop Hacienda was a fun escape from the long Mn winter - and made as smooth as possible by the very friendly, prompt and courteous assistance of the owners and the property manager. Sadly - we were a day late due to Cape Air cancelling our flight the day before we left and being overbooked on the next two evening flights. Our guests had similar cancellation and flight change experiences with Cape Air and I gather it is SOP for that carrier. If you are coming to Vieques - be prepared for travel changes and perhaps allow extra long connection times. But the owner and manager were helpful and we were met at the airport. We loved the villa and the views. We were in the upper 3 BR and spent all of our time on the outdoor porch. I needed to work throughout the trip and found the internet working well - most of the time. The home was very thoughtfully appointed with new and clean cooking utensils, nice towels - and best yet - several beach chairs , umbrellas and coolers so we could explore a different beach each day. I can't tell you if the tv works as we never felt the need for any entertainment besides looking at the sea and sky and watching the occasional "break-ins" by the rambling horses and a little colt that delighted in sneaking through the fence to the manager's yard across the way. The weather and water was perfect for our entire stay. The pool by the villa was sparkling clean and made for a great place to relax in the sun and take the occasional dip. We toured with Jaks in glass bottom kayaks and had a magical night in the bio bay. I rented a bike - and tho many of the roads are narrow - found the local drivers courteous and not "scary" to a cyclist. The food and drink prices were reasonable at many of the restaurants and little stands. Most nights we picked something up so we could come back and enjoy the porch and view. If there was any drawback - I would note that the various local dogs and roosters can announce their presence - and anyone troubled by that noise will gripe a bit when you are sleeping. I found it part of the charm and "we're not at home anymore" part of the neighborhood and enjoyed the sound of waves most of the days and evenings. As a dog lover - there were several little cuties I wanted to take home in my carry on. All in all - the four adults at the villa loved our stay and would like to be repeat customers.
