Terrific rental home in Isabel II

5 of 5
We made Vieques (and Isabel II) our Thanksgiving week travel spot. We found Casa Ladera through the various rental home sites. The pool, location and size were all selling points for us. We stayed in the Villa behind the main house. The villa had plenty of space for 10 of us. The kitchen was well accommodated and the rooms and bathrooms very clean and in excellent condition, which is saying something giving the humid conditions on the island. Lots of pillows and towels to go around, which was helpful. The pool was large enough for all the families staying on the property. We met some terrific folks from Texas and our kids had fun swimming and playing with them. The grill by the pool was a great bonus. There's also a fridge and bathroom to make this a nice hangout on the property. The grounds were immaculately maintained and the house felt quite secure. Renee was a terrific host and helped us out in planning out the logistics for our stay (a rental car is a must!). The only downside is that the beach by the property is not swimable and there's a fair amount of trash there. There were a number of aggressive dogs in a house near the beach, too, though they were behind a fence. If you're looking for a property with a nice beach within walking distance, this would not be your first choice. Also, if you want a nice balcony view, I would choose the second floor of the main house at Casa Ladera. The villa itself didn't offer any notable views itself. Overall, excellent spot on Vieques!

Loved Casa Tolteca!

5 of 5
Casa Tolteca was a great house to stay in! We were a group of 8 adults and 2 toddlers and we all loved the house. Casa Tolteca is just as described and the pictures were very accurate with very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and an awesome kitchen (gas stove, oven, dishwasher, etc..). You feel like you are in your own private and secluded resort style house. It has all the amenities you would need while staying in Vieques - everything from snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, coolers, fully equipped kitchen, beach towels, satellite TV, wireless internet, washer and drier, not to mention a great pool to relax in! You just had to show up with your basic necessities, food, and drinks. The house was clean and very well taken care of with air conditioning units and ceiling fans in all of the rooms. The property managers Kelly and Cheo were very attentive and nice, Cheo met us at our arrival and drove us to the house, as well as called on a daily basis to see if we needed anything. We would definitely recommend staying in this lovely property and we would stay here again. We had a great time. Thank you Cheryl and Cheo!

Beyond Belief

5 of 5
After several years of separate vacations, and on our honeymoon no less, my fella and I wanted nothing more than a gorgeous location to hunker down for a week & cook, sun bathe, read & wander in to a town once in awhile. The Casa provided the ultimate version of our vacation vision. It's an adventurous ride to the property (yes, you most decidedly need to rent a jeep) and the views once you get to the top of the hill are so worth it. No one believes the pictures are real. The yard is perfect, and filled with creative landscaping and a huge variety of native plants. The house is a unique structure with a gigantic open floor plan, big beautiful kitchen and a separate bedroom full of windows and local art. Unless we were away, the doors and windows were always open, making the song of the coqui frogs or the swishing of palm fronds our constant mood-enhancing soundtrack. The pool is perfect for actual lap-swimming or lounging with a tropical drink. Colleen, the caretaker, is a delight. She's easy to communicate with, provided tons of useful information about the island and made herself available during daylight hours. Ben also called to check on us, which was kind! If you want peaceful luxury in a perfect climate, this is your place. You're just a bumpy (fun!) 10 minute ride from Esperanza and a little more than that to the island's myriad beaches and activities. Honestly, though, once you've got your groceries purchased, you won't want to leave. Thank you Ben! Thank you Colleen! We will be singing your praises to other travelers and hope to return someday!
