                        BEAUTIFUL! BEYOND COMFORTABLE! GREAT LOCATION!

                        5 of 5
We decided to book this super last minute. We came to San Juan on Thursday night and emailed a few listings on HomeAway letting them know we wanted to come the next day, Friday thru Tuesday. Booking was a Breeze: Zia, the owner, replied quickly and set us up in a snap. Freddy, who takes care of the house, welcomed us at the ferry and was delightfully there for us if/when we needed him The Apt: This is our 3rd time in Vieques and expected to rent a modest apartment, but as soon as we got there we knew we found a great spot! The unobstructed view from the balcony is a-maz-ing... the lush nature preserve, the tranquil still water of the bay and the Caribbean Sea in the distance...that combined with the sweet island breeze... aaAHH... WOW... GORGEOUS...YES! Amenities: This apt is HUGE. All rooms are very big - each bedroom is very spacious with AC, fan & its own bathroom. The hot water is perfect and pressure was great! The main bathroom is enormous, has a washer/dryer if you want to do laundry. The Kitchen is fully equipped, including toaster oven, juicer and lots of other extras and modern fridge and stove. If you want to cook, its ready to go! Location: Not even 5 minutes from the best beaches. Smack in the middle of Esperanza & Isabel II. Can't beat it! We had a wonderfully relaxing 4 days and will be back as soon as we possibly can! Thanks so much, Zia & Freddy - see you VERY soon!!

                        WECAN'T WAIT TO RETURN!

                        5 of 5
Joeanna & Hector are amazing people! Not just hosts, but amazing people. They made our stay on Vieques truly memorable, I work in a hotel and their understanding of "hospitality" truly shows. We definitely felt like old friends rather than guests. We stayed in the room attached to the house (there is a separate bungalow as well which looks awesome for 4 ppl). It was perfect for us. Comfortable bed, new A/C unit, good shower, nice kitchen with full size refrigerator (we cooked most of the time), snorkle gear, cooler, beach chairs, private patio, all well kept. We even borrowed one of Hector's trucks for a couple days to go to Esperanza. If you add all of this up, it turns out to be ONE HELL OF A DEAL! I even had a headache and forgot to pack aspirin, but one text and they came down in 5 minutes with some.WOW! I guess it's the small things. Their communication from the initial booking was great as well. We ended up meeting Hector on the ferry from Fajardo to Vieques and from that moment on we felt well taken care of. We can't say enough about Casita Ylan, but we know that we will return just to stay there. Thank you Joeanna y Hector por todos! p.s. The beaches are spread out in Vieques and are not really close to good lodging. Most people seem to need a Jeep, even if you stay in Esperanza. Casita Ylan is 5 mins from the ferry and 15 mins from Esperanza beaches. It really makes it the best deal on the island!

                        GREAT HOUSE IN GREAT LOCATION

                        5 of 5
The house was everything we expected it to be based on the description, and I would stay there again without hesitation. Well appointed, clean, comfortable and with a thoughtful touch; Paul has supplied everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach, ready to lend. The house is situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood with a couple of bars close by, but part of what I am looking for when I travel is a peek at how people live, so it was perfect for us. If you require absolute silence to be happy, you may not enjoy it as much, but we thought it was great. Close to coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, a museum, the town square and plenty of other places worth walking to, and features a lovely outdoor patio for when you feel like sitting down at the end of the day and just people watching. We also had a car, since we were intending to do a beach tour of Vieques, so we were able to go back and forth to Esperanza, as well as the beaches, with ease. I vacillated between staying in Isabel and Esperanza, but in the end I had no regrets with the choice we made (and given that it was spring break, I actually think being on the municipal side of the island was the quieter choice) The small size of the island makes everything quite doable, and the longest ride you'll have to take to cross the island is 15 minutes or so.
