My wife and I couldn't have planned a better vacation for our 1 year anniversary.
Colores del mar is an amazing home and Ingrid and Allen Bergman go out of their way to make your stay memorable.
When booking the house they gave my wife and I tips on what airlines to fly and what airport to fly out of to get the best deal on airfare. When we arrived in Vieques, Ingrid was there to pick us up and give us a tour around Isabel, the main town on the island. We stopped in a couple stores to pick up some initial supplies (wine, beer, some snacks, etc.). She also pointed out different places to shop and eat at during our stay.
Colores del Mar is less than a 5 minute ride from Isabel. It's just close enough to town, yet far enough away to make you feel like you’re staying at your own private retreat.
The house is "turn-key". It comes equipped with all the kitchen supplies you need, beach gear, washer/dryer, TV and dvd player, ipod dock, etc. The house is also very beautiful on the inside. You can tell someone with some real craftsmanship built the house.
A couple other quick points:
- Rent the jeep that is offered with the house. You'll need it for exploring the islands and the beaches. The jeep is in great shape (looked/ran like it was brand new). When you show up at the house, it’s there ready to go for you.
-The patios/decks on the house are awesome. Great ocean views. You can see the main island of PR and Culebra. My wife and I would usually come back and watch the sunset from the upstairs patio or hot tub and drink a couple bottles of wine
- My wife and I tried to go to as many beaches as possible. We went to 10-12 different beaches during our stay at Colores del Mar. They were all beautiful and unique in their own way. A lot of times, we had the beach all to ourselves.
-Esperanza is a cool little town. Good restaurants/bars. We usually stopped here once a day to grab food and/or a drink.
We'll definitely be visiting Vieques again. When we travel, we usually like to try and stay at different places, just to switch things up a bit. Not when we return to Vieques. We'll be staying at Colores del Mar on our next visit just b/c the place really was perfect.
