The Perfect Perch

5 of 5
Located high on a hill with views of both the Atlantic side, Culebra and mainland Puerto Rico as well as the Caribbean, I can not stress enough what a fabulous house this is. Convenient to both Esperanza and Isabell II we were only minutes from wherever we wanted to be on Vieques. We were traveling with teens and a 5 yr old and all age groups had a fantastic time. We were greeted by the caretaker upon landing at the tiny airport and he assisted us in getting to the car rental office and then to the property. He checked in with us during the week and was there again to see us off when we departed. The house was nicely appointed. We had plenty of beach towels, chairs and coolers to use for our daily trips to the beaches. Unfortunately our visit to Vieques was during some of the beach closings but this only means we'll need to return. Having the pool at the house was great for the kids and a fantastic way to relax after dinner and before heading to the roof for star gazing. The owners were great to work with and very helpful with any info that we needed. Do not miss the Bio Bay tour, it was truly one of the coolest things we've ever experienced.

Private, serene, restoring.

5 of 5
This was possibly one of the most peaceful & relaxing vacations we've had. It isn't just the beautiful simplicity of the casa; the remote hilltop setting, the rustling of the palm grove in the steady breeze, & the unobstructed view for miles all combine to absorb the stress from you & put you in a contemplative mood. Colleen, the house manager, met us at the airport so we could follow her to the house. She then gave us a brief but thorough primer on how the house works & how to get around Vieques before giving us her cell phone & leaving us to decompress. Ben, the homeowner, was responsive to my inquiries & was a pleasure to speak with by phone. He even called the house on our second day just to make sure we were happy or see if we needed anything. I felt comfortable that I could call either one if we needed anything at all; we didn't. The house & grounds, like Vieques, are unfussy, refreshing, & tranquil; luxurious in its solitude. Thank you Ben, for the privilege of staying in your special home.

Luxurious accomodations!

5 of 5
We were surprised at how big the house is and how much privacy each room has. We only had 4 adults and one child so we did not need the bottom floor apartment with the second kitchen. It is beautiful, comfortable and spotless. Bright colors on the outside but the inside is very tastefully decorated by someone with a great eye for details in nuetral relaxing colors. The towels, linens, chairs, all were high quality. The house managers were very helpful. They stopped by a couple of times and made sure the pool stayed clean. The pool was very nice for relaxing after a hot day at the beach. We were centrally located to everything on the island. We went to Esperanza and the Southern beaches most often but also trekked into Isabel and had dinner at the W. We did not cook but there were very nice appliances. We ate lunch at Bananas daily after the beach and tried different places at night. The weather and the views were perfect along with the sounds of the coquis frogs each night. You definitely need a jeep to stay here and should listen to the house managers instructions on how to park on the very steep driveway because it is tricky and you can scrape the bottom of the vehicle if you come from the wrong angle. I wish we had brought a long a a few more friends to fill up the other rooms!
