Excellent Vacation

5 of 5
Luis was great to work with and was very patient with my many questions since this was our first time renting through VRBO :) The Villa is much larger than it looks in the photographs, nice high ceilings, huge master bathroom and closet. Great full bath in second bedroom. Kitchen was fully stocked. All you need is food and drinks. The first day we checked out the private beach front pool that is past the resort hotel on the right. It was GREAT. we took a nice long walk to the left on the beach to the point. Absolutely beautiful. Was great watching my 6 year old play in the waves. Later that day we ventured over to the resort pool. Technically this is not a feature included with the rental of the villas be we had NO PROBLEMS. the resort pool was great. We all went down the water slide several times. The pool area was quiet enough that I felt safe picking a spot to sit and letting my 6 year old make her rounds to the slide, hot tub, and main pool. (And that's saying a lot because I'm a helicopter mom). It was gorgeous. They have resident iguanas that are used to people and one even swam across the pool! Might as well have been JAWS the way the kids scattered! The next morning it was raining so we went to the rain forest. We ate at the station just above the La Mina falls trail and then went back down the mountain to hike to La Mina Falls. It was a great hike, about 1.4 miles round trip. Totally worth it. The trails are narrow and with it being slick I had a hold of my daughter's hand the whole time but I'm sure she would have been fine on her own. There were lots of kids on that hike too and several people were in the water at the falls though my daughter jumped right out when she felt the cold water temps :) Since it was still raining when we left we decided to go to Luquillo Beach for the afternoon. It was overcast there but not raining. It costs a minimal fee to park and a few dollars to use the restroom but those are the only fees. the sand is white and there are NO WAVES, at all!!!!! The water was very very clear and after being in it about 5 minutes it felt great. Even the fish were clear :) My daughter made friends with a few local kiddos and they built sand castles. 5:00 was the prettiest time of day there. I'd go on but I ran out of characters :) The rest of the days we spent at the hotel pool. Thanks Luis for a great trip to paradise!
