As others have mentioned, this isn't a luxurious beach condo, but it IS a great beach condo - we loved our ten days here. This is exactly the place I would want to get away to the beach on weekends - it's got everything you need to relax - starting with the beautiful beach. Golden sand, blue tropical water, palm trees, the beach practically to yourself most of the time - and the pool is very nice as well - a great bonus.
The condo itself is comfortable, a bit worn around the edges, perhaps, but we felt at ease and right at home, as if it was our place. Lots of pots and pans and utensils and napkins and paper towels and toilet paper and soap and salt and pepper and candles and trash bags and appliances - everything you need if we were going to come here next weekend - with all of the practical things that we've had to buy ourselves at other places.
It's a very quiet place (other than the lawn care crew that spent a day vigorously manicuring the grounds with every motorized piece of equipment possible - starting at 7:00 AM - so just go to the beach or breakfast!) The balcony overlooking the pool is perfect for breakfast or some quiet afternoon reading - and you can hear the waves on the beach.
The nearby food choices range from fun to good - we went to Richie's a couple of times - fun place. We had a delightful breakfast down the hill at Antojitos Puertorriquenos - we'll have dinner there next time. I was in meat heaven at El Verde BBQ, a take out place a little to the west on Route 3 - ribs and chicken were insane - the smell makes your mouth water. Get to La Familia for just their bread alone. Check foodie websites for other great places. The star of the local food scene was the food kiosks at Luquillo Beach, a couple of miles to the east off Rt 3 - the beach at the state park is beautiful (park in the paid parking $5) - walk to the kiosks and get some lunch and an ice-cold Medalla. But at night, it transforms into a great dinner choice - La Parilla #3, Beach BBQ #25 were our favorites - but many more good places and great people watching.
The condo is easy to get to once you've been there one time. Roads are good, traffic is polite. People are without exception genuinely friendly and helpful. Grocery shopping, including beer and liquor, is best at Ralph's - on Route 3 a few miles west.
All told, we truly enjoyed every minute and were sad to leave - it was that nice. Many thanks to Ricky (we didn't meet Maite, but thank you, too!) for the
