Well, my girlfriend and I were irritated immediately exiting the plane due to the fact that our bags were delayed by US Airways and crew.. and the out-of-nowhere torrential downpour to add insult to injury :(( not a good way to start the much needed vacation. but annnyywho, we managed to grab a cab for $10 fare for an interesting 10 min ride as we were stopped by the cops while looking for the apartment. Rishad was awesome though and apologized, none was needed as the police seemed to be assholes. Kelli met us at the gate and gave us the grand tour of this absolutely beautiful, clean, space for two. The views were INCREDIBLE from the roomy private balcony and large windows. We had everything we needed, from towels, wine glasses, margarita glasses, and wine opener. Toiletries were obviously not included, but wasn't a problem to walk a couple minutes to the Walgreens.. or bike (we reserved the bikes :).. so dope). There are many restaurants within walking distance: La playita (best cocoloco), El Alambique bar and grill, Basilias, Piu Bella, Metropol, Lupi's, Punta de Vista (Old San Juan, and our 2 personal favorites where we frequented.. Platos and Third base. Why you ask? Platos has the best empanadas de churrasco, best chicken fettuccine alfredo i've had, awesome mussels, and the stuffed mofongo con camarones :))). The food, the drinks (sangria is good, but the rum punch is better.. more bang for your buck.Third Base, which is located next to El Alambique, has the best fried wings.. they use Puerto Rican seasonings and are fried to PERFECTION. Lupi's have great margaritas and cuba libres. We visited a number of beaches. Pinegrove beach was probably our favorite because it was more our speed and because of the beachfront cabanas. Can't go wrong with Old San Juan, Castillo De San Cristobol had incredible views of the city and interesting history. There a lot of places to enjoy drinks, dance, and eat.. but i recommend asking the cab driver or some of the locals, as they are familiar and always willing to help. While we didn't get to go skydiving and hike the El Yunque rainforest, we were able to reserve a spot on the Catamaran Salty Dog where we sailed to Icacos and Palomino island. Unlimited rum drinks and snorkeling.. what more can you ask for?! Clear blue water and great reefs for snorkeling. See there FB page. Anyway, I ABSOLUTELY recommend staying here, you won't regret it. We can't wait to get back to Puerto Rico!! Thanks Carmen and Hector.
