Great Location

5 of 5
We spent the second half of our time in Puerto Rico in this unit. Our time there spanned over the new year holiday. Irma(the owner) was very responsive and met us at the unit when we arrived to give us the keys and show us around. The unit is roomy and very clean. The views are great. From the kitchen you are looking out at the green hills and from the living room you have a view of the ocean with amazing sunsets daily. One of the best surprises was the rooftop terrace accessed directly from inside the unit. We enjoyed the New Years Eve festivities from the terrace while enjoying a bottle of wine. The neighbors all around La Parguera obviously embrace the holiday and between the music and fireworks it was a great show! The only two small things I would point out are the stairs and cellular data limitations. The unit is a 4th floor penthouse unit and is walk up only. If you have a problem with stairs you may want to look elsewhere. Also, thanks to road construction in town the main data trunk to La Parguera was cut killing both internet and television to the unit. The unit does have a Roku but our Verizon phones had limited data connectivity at best and definitely not enough to stream Netflix, Hulu, etc. Aside from those two notes we loved the unit and the location. Irma also mentioned that she own a unit in Old San Juan which would give you the ability to possibly split time and have two completely different vacation experiences on the same trip.

Exactly what we were looking for

5 of 5
The house is as pictured - territorIal view of the mangrove islands of La Parguerra. It is situated on the hill to the west of the fishing village. A manageable walk to the grocery store and boat docks. The house features a nice sized swimming pool with a cabana. The cabana was equipped with a barbeque, sink, and counter. There were plenty of comfortable chairs and lounges around the pool for our party of 10, As well as a table for 4 -6 people. The perfect place to unwind and relax after touring Ponce or spending the day snorkeling, picnicking, and floating in the Caribean. The main floor of the house had a big covered porch the full width of the house. The porch overlooked La Pargerrra. The porch was furnished with comfortable wrought iron furniture including a perfect card table and wooden rocking chair where we spent the evening drinking wine and playing dominoes, chatting about our adventures, or reading. The kitchen was well equipped and huge. We prepared and ate breakfasts and dinners there. The kitchen was stocked with Puerto Rican seasonings, vinegar, cooking oil, pasta,... and we were told to help ourselves (We had stocked up at Costco on the north side of the island before getting there where they have giant insulated shopping bags for sale to keep the perishables cold). The trash compactor and dishwasher were not working - The sink was plenty big to handle the dishes. The bedrooms were all air conditioned. The master bedroom was a small apartment sized room with a sitting area and television. There was a viewing deck on the third floor.. It also had WI-FI. There was a 2 car carport. With plenty of street parking. The house is a real period piece and comfortable. If you are looking for a resort experience like the Ritz Carelton in Dorado, this is not it. If you are looking for a great place to vacation with family and friends at a bargain price, this is the place. The only drawback is the bedrooms are all on the third floor. Which would make a stay difficult for those with mobility issues.
