This property is in a great, private location directly on Shacks beach with sweeping views of the Atlantic ocean. It is in Isabella but on the far west side of town close to Aquadilla. It is clean, safe, secure and reasonably priced. While its not appointed like a luxury resort, it was suitable for our family.
We stayed in the 2 bd unit which was beautifully decorated and well-equipped. The kitchen was nice, though a few of the appliances, especially the oven, could use updating. We did have a few problems with the bathroom. It was small for our family of four (shower but no tub) and the shower head was broken and spraying everywhere when we arrived, also there was no pressure. Upon reporting it to the owner someone came the very next day and replaced the shower head. The shower pressure was still low but functioning better and we appreciated the quick service. The bedrooms were small but lovely. The washer and dryer were great, as was the outdoor shower. The air conditioning worked perfectly.
The outside patio is large and beautiful and where you will spend 90% of your time. I couldn't get enough of the views and the proximity right on the beach could not be beat. The landscaping around the house and by the pool is gorgeous and lush. The pool is great and there were plenty of toys available for the kids which we appreciated. The only thing we didn't like was having to leave the vacuum in the pool in the mornings. It would have been nice not to have to worry about the vacuum and unhooking it/replacing it every day.
The beach is beautiful and very private - practically deserted during the week. It is not a public beach so you feel as though you have it completely to yourself. It is rocky and there are sea urchins, so you have to be careful, but there was an area to the right of the house with a sandy entrance where my kids could swim. On windy days the current can be strong so you need to be careful. It is perfect for water sports and we saw many people snorkeling and kite surfing while we were there.
We had a great dinner at The Eclipse restaurant at Villa Montana Resort, only a 5 minute walk on the beach from the house. We also had dinner one night at the restaurant at Royal Isabela resort and that was fabulous. We took a day trip to Cabo Rojo and it was amazing, a must-see!
This is not the place to go if you seek adventure and excitement. But if you seek peace, relaxation and tranquility it is pretty close to perfection!
