SPECTACULAR VIEWS ... my tropical vacation dream fulfilled!

5 of 5
When I first saw the pictures and price of this vacation rental, I thought it was too good to be true. I had been searching for a rental with a balcony overlooking palm trees and the ocean so we could "escape" the brutal New England winter, but I all I would find was over-prized condos. Then I found this ocean-front hidden gem ... named "EL ESCAPE" sitting on that hill, surrounded by beautiful palm trees, with FOUR balconies, and a private swimming pool coming off a game room with a pool table! Exactly what my heart desired and a lot more for a very reasonable prize! I immediately contacted the owner, and she replied the same day ... she was very prompt and courteous in accommodating my plans so my sister and parents could meet us there. The minute we arrived, we were greeted by spectacular ocean views and tropical breezes I had been dreaming about. We were amazed how spacious and beautifully decorated the home is. The kitchen is fully equipped and you could enjoy ocean views even as you cook and do the dishes! You stand in the living room and you see the ocean from three different balconies, and feel such a breeze you don't even have to go outside! Downstairs is the swimming pool and my 80-year old parents played like little children in the warm water ... we had a blast! There's a charcoal grill, hammocks and the game room is huge! We played pool, darts, foosball, dominoes .... We saw gorgeous sun rises and went for exhilarating morning walks collecting seashells, and interesting rocks. The beach is not meant for swimming, but we certainly enjoyed dipping in the crystal clear shallow areas when the tide was high! We loved sitting under the palm trees on the side of the house with our tropical drinks, mesmerized by the beauty of the ocean and the sound of the waves. It was awesome! We loved it and definitely plan to return every year with more family members to enjoy!

Great comfortable stay

4 of 5
House accomodated 6 adults comfortably we had a family emergency and being from New England with all the snow having the view and walk across to the beach was pretty tranquil. The only drawback is lack of internet service (I work from home on computer) but I did find some hotspots, (sprint) along the outside wall of the foyer area near the gate has great signal even across at the beach but nothing really in the house except for the kitchen table at times LOL this may be very important to others :) other than that everything was very accomodating. There is alot of people that park across the street at night and watch the beach or whatever never had an issue but we did keep the gates locked after dark. If your looking to go to PR and you want the island feel then I recommend this place and Kevin was great too meeting us at 230 am to let us in. Thanks Kelley again we enjoyed the stay!

Authentic beach house, perfect for children!

4 of 5
We had a great time at Casa Glad this February. We rented the bottom floor, which was enough for 4 adults and 2 young children. Strengths are in the authentic beach house feel and the cutest décor; large living area and kitchen, with huge dining table; lots of games, puzzles, and even small rocking chairs for kids, and Joy made sure we had a pack-n-play for our youngest one; AND a private beach! Aside from a few locals fishing we had about a mile of beach all to ourselves! The waves are big and it isn't manicured sandy beaches like the resorts, but who wants that? The rocks and tide pools are perfectly placed so that our little ones could splash around in the tide pools safely, and try to catch crabs, small fish, and critters. They absolutely loved it. One draw-back is that despite the authentic beach house feel, the town is not a "beach" or "surf" town. Hatillo is very commercial. We were probably two blocks from a very commercial area, which was convenient, especially needing to run to get this and that, but not what you picture when you think of a "beach town." We couldn't find a place to eat ocean-side. We made a day trip to Isabella, Jobes Beach, which was great, and a day trip to the waterfalls in San Sebastian, which we recommend! We had been to Rincon before which is also a great town. Overall, this was a great value and great price with an authentic adorable home.
